Anyone have that one family member that you keep hearing jaw dropping comments from, can’t help but shake your head at, and think are just plain ol’ assholes? I actually have more than one, but one particular in-law has been sticking in my craw, losing any respect I had for him, and everyone else around him. Without going into his long story…
Apparently Darling Husband had a bad day because his Uncle (the asshole in question) has been on a huge tear, as in checking in on Darling Husband (more often than normal) to make sure he’s working, what kind of work he’s doing, if Uncle should be telling him how to do it, etc. He even had the nerve to (I’m assuming) follow Darling Husband to town, find him with his other uncle having a quick coffee (DH was picking up some documents from him so that he could finish working on whatever he was) go up to Darling Husband and say, “Oh, so this is you working?” Sigh…
But the kicker, and where I lost all respect for this man, was a comment he made later. To preface, his daughter (A) and son-in-law (E) just had their first baby. A super premie baby (born at 27 weeks) that was brought home at the beginning of Sept. So, I suppose Uncle was complaining about some work that wasn’t getting done on E&A’s yard, or work that Uncle wanted to get done and “needs” E to help (he could do it himself, but is the type to expect everyone around him to help), and said to Darling Husband, “If E would stop spending so much time with Baby, we could get a lot more work done!”
My jaw fell to the floor, eyes popped out of my head, “WHAAAAAT?!”. Obviously Uncle is still living in the ’50’s, but are we really serious here?! Your son in law, took time off a full time job to specifically help out his wife with their first born PREMATURE baby, not to help you with projects. The funny thing is, I still saw E with Uncle around our place, obviously helping him…
Big, blatant asshole. I told Darling Husband that if he EVER says anything along those lines to either of us if we have children, or if I hear about it from others, he will get a big ear-full from me…
