No regrets even though our planner kept telling us we would. So many great photos, and that’s enough for us.

bibbithebee:  Yes, it does seem like the future isn’t being taken into account. Photography can’t capture everything.

Not having a videographer is no big deal. You don’t really need one. It is, however, a good idea to have someone filming the wedding. Heck, having a recording that’s just audio is much better than having nothing.

It’s better to have and not need than to need and not have, when it comes to wedding videos. You may not watch it now or years from now, but if there ever comes a moment where you or someone important to you wants to see a video and you don’t have it… boy, is that going to hurt.

Plan for the future when it comes to documenting your wedding, not now or a few years from now.

ETA: rent a couple cameras and set them up at the ceremony and reception. If that’ll cost too much, have some guests record the important moments on their phones and send you footage later. Just make sure you have some recordings of your wedding day if there is even the slightest chance that you or your spouse might regret not having any later.

I don’t know… I just can’t imagine spending $25k on a one day event and then not having anything except stills afterward. It seems silly to weigh out a $2000 investment that’s going to mean so much more to you and your family in 10 or 20 years. Plus, this sound weird, but people don’t live forever. It’d be nice to see people who pass on in their prime on the dancefloor in video. It’s just so much more real than a snapshot in time.

I hate videos of myself, so I have no regrets about not having a videographer!

Fiance and I are skipping the videographer. It’s just not in the cards for us budget-wise and we both hate watching and hearing ourselves so I don’t think we’ll have many regrets here.
