@kelly105:  Heck no that would not be tacky! lol My first pregnancy, my moms(step mom and birth mom) threw the party at my house! It was nice because I didn’t have to haul everything from one place to another. I suggest it at your house for that reason!

Yeah I agree that would be nice to have it at your place so you don’t have to haul the gifts home, haha.

My mom is throwing mine at her house, it made sense to do it that way instead of rent somewhere since her place is big enough to accomodate a large party anyway, and it is a convenient location for my family members as we always have holiday parties there.

@kelly105: I held one for a friend and did it at her Mum’s house. It was best logistically.

My mom and sister are throwing mine and it is going to be at a cupcake bakery/candy shop.  They have a party room in the back.  Kind of fun! 🙂  It is only 50 dollars an hour to rent and they provide all drinks and clear plastic plates/etc.

You could try restaurants that are only open for dinner?  There are a couple around here that make you bring your own food and everything just rent you the space while they are closed.

My mom & sister hosted my shower. It was at my moms house. At the time she had a really big house so even with a ton of people we were comfortable. Everyone has since moved out so she sold the house & rents an apartment now. If she was going to host another shower she’d probably have it a restaurant or nice hall. I don’t think its tacky to have it at your own house but I wouldn’t do it. For the same reason you gave.

My Mother-In-Law and a close friend are hosting my shower. It will be at the clubhouse at the neighborhood my Mother-In-Law lives in. I think they let her rent it for free as part of her HOA dues. It’s a nice, big space, so I think it will work really well. We will either have food catered or just provide finger foods for people to munch on.

My Mother-In-Law is hosting my shower at her home. She considered a few local restaurants but decided she would rather save the money to buy us a nicer gift (she got us our travel system). I’m honestly fine with it because I tend to prefer more laidback gatherings, anyway.

Both of mine are being thrown at my clubhouse since I’m the only one who has one. My Darling Husband sides shower is being thrown by my Mother-In-Law and SIL. My sides shower is being thrown by my mom and my best friend who is also the godmother! It is way easier to have it at my clubhouse since it wont be far to bring everything, my bridal showers were thrown at my MIL’s house and my best friends house and it just felt so crowded and everyone was in different rooms.

My mom and aunt did mine at my aunt’s house. She had the best place for it without having to spend money on renting a place.

My friend and she hosted it at her house.  I prefer showers at homes rather than at a restaurant or rented space.  They feel cosier and less pressure to leave at a certain time etc.  Just more laid-back.

My mom is having mine at her house. She looked into halls, private rooms at restaurants, etc. That was more similar to what we did for my wedding shower, but I really just wanted something more low key this time around, and having it at her house made more sense since it’s larger.

I haven’t been the recipient of a baby shower but I’ve attended a few.

One was for a coworker. We threw her the shower and it was at a local park.

Another was for a friend’s wife and her coworker and client threw it for her. It was at the client’s house.

Another one was held at the association’s private club room that’s available for rent for free or a nominal fee for the residents that pay the HOA.
