My fiance and I are planning to elope in December. We are just doing a simple city hall wedding, and going on our dream honeymoon three days later. We were thinking of throwing a surprise post-elopement dinner after the ceremony, disguised as a Christmas dinner/party (as we will be gone over Christmas). The problem we have run into is who to invite. I am very close with my dads side of the family, we see each other often and have montly family dinners. I am close with my mother, but not her 5 sisters or their families. They only get together for major holidays, which I’m never actually invited to, only as an after thought by my mother, never actually by whoever is hosting. Would it be horrible to not invite this side of my family? We are planning to do a larger party celebration in the spring that everyone would be invited to. This is just a dinner to celebrate the day of with our closest family and friends.
