I didn’t do this, but I love the idea!

I was going to use one. Got a really pretty frame and painted the chalkboard paint on a board to fit the frame. Told my priest my idea….and he ripped it to shreads 🙁 So, I will not be using it – I will be printing programs. So bummed.

@hmmtmar:  WTF? Why?

We’re doing one. I have some design ideas pinned and FSMIL is doing the writing for me. I bought a big framed picture at Goodwill and painted the glass, and then I need to decide if I want to paint the frame or leave it as-is.

@vorpalette:  He said because people will either just walk right by it or they will read it but then forget it and plus people like to have something to look at during the ceremony… Boo! 🙁

@hmmtmar:  Ughhh who cares? Just do it anyway. It’s not his decision!

@vorpalette:  +1

Plus, people shouldn’t be reading something during the ceremony — all eyes should be on you and your FI!  Do it anyway, or you’ll regret not having one.

@Chelwilly:  I’ve been thinking about this for some time. I’ve also come across couples putting a black backing (paper, felt, painted cardboard) behind the glass and then using paint pens on the glass itself. It saves you the cost of the chalkboard paint and makes for easier reuse of the frame because you just wipe the paint pen off and remove the dark backing.

I swear I saved some photos but they’ve disappeared from my Pinterest board Undecided. I’ll try to find some and post in a bit.

We will be using a old rustic looking window.  It was actually the door on my parents house that was the original to the old farm house.  Its HUGE and heavy.  I’ll be using the window part for programs.  I just think its a waste to have paper people will throw away.  No one saves the programs, its a waste of money and time.

@Chelwilly:  I might make a few paper programs for my grandmothers.  They are kind of old fashioned lol and I know will ask me where the paper programs are, but for everyone else, they can look at the window.
