My mom is trying to decide whether to get her makeup done with me and the ladies or go someplace closer to her house that is much more convenient. Who was with you during the hair/makeup processs on your wedding day?

My mom is not a ‘hair and make up’ kind of lady so it never really occured to us to have her get her hair/make up done. I offered it to her in case she wanted to hang out but I figured she’d be happy to let the bridesmaids and me have the morning together. I’ve been to other weddings where the mom of the bride was with us for hair and make up but it has been convenient for them so if it’s less stress for your mom to go closer to home, maybe that would work out better. Unless you really want her there – keep in mind it’s not great quality time since everyone is just in their seats or waiting for the professionals to be ready for them!

My H&MU artist came to the chapel, and we got ready there. She did mine (H&MU), 2 bridesmaids (1 H&MU, 1 just hair) and my mom’s (just hair). My other Bridesmaid or Best Man and my Mother-In-Law came about half an hour late and had theirs done elsewhere. (I let everybody choose what they wanted to do.)

I didnt vote because it was only my mom who was with me. My bridesmaids went to the salon before me and I showed up while they were getting their hair done. I didnt start getting my hair done until the last bridesmaid was almost done with her hair. So for the majority of the time it was just my mom and I. I would have loved to have my girls there (they did not offer to stay – a whole other issue) but in the end it was nice to just have time with my mom

It’ll be my bridesmaids and my mom with me! I think it’ll be a nice start to the day, and I only have 3 BMs, so it shouldn’t be too hectic 🙂

Right now I only know that my mom will be there and hopefully my brother since he’s the only one standing up beside me. I’m going to invite my Future Mother-In-Law and closest friends who would have been bridesmaids if our wedding was larger though. I’m also not sure yet if I’m getting my hair/makeup done at our rental house or at the salon though which will probably make a difference in how many people are there.

We had a rotating schedule. My Maid/Matron of Honor and I slept in the hotel room the night before so I had to be showered and ready for my hair at 9am! I got my hair done first when it was still quiet and just me and her in the room. Later more and more people showed up and by 2pm we had atleast 11 women in a small hotel room! My mom had to take my grandparents to Church so she didnt show up until later.
Something I never told my mom was to be dressed and ready for when the photographer showed up… argggg! My maids and me were all pretty, dressed, fresh & ready but my mom still had casual clothes on and thus didnt want to be in the photos! omg.

We had my hair dresser and makeup artist (who is also my friend an her mom) come to my hotel room. My mom also got her hair done, and my fg and bridesmaids. We also had some family friends and cousins coming in and out of the room. I definitely wasn’t one of those “You can’t see me before the wedding!” brides. I liked having a group of people to keep my mind off of things.

I’ll be going by myself, unless my mother or aunt want to come with the day of the reception.
