Just curious to see what others do when their kids are sick. I am a nanny, PG and now sick with the same cold that one of the little ones I take care of had/has. Her cold ended with an ear infection and I took care of her the WHOLE time. None of my other families expect me to take care of their little ones when their sick. So what do you do?

I’m still pregnant, but it will definitely be me. Sometimes maybe DH if it’s his day off but his work is not as flexible for him to take time off work on short notice. My dad is also retired, so if we’re really stuck then he could probably help but I highly doubt we’ll ever ask him.
If we are both home and you mean the actual taking care of part, it will be both of us.

If I had a nanny that came to my home, you’re darn skippy I would have used that instead of taking off of work. But as it was, when DS was little he went to daycare, and he was not allowed to enter the building if he was ill. So yeah, I missed a fair amount of work and school when he was small.

@lovekiss: As a nanny my policy is that I don’t care for sick kids because I care for other kids and while I usually don’t get sick I could spread the bug to them. I think I’m irritated because they have stuck me with sick kids on numerous occasions and now I’m PG and they still did it!
I always stayed home with Dear Daughter. Who do you want when your sick? Momma.

@baletrina: Your choice to be pregnant has no bearing on the job that you signed up for, so I really don’t see how it’s relevant. If you don’t like the employment arrangement, you can always terminate it. But the friends that I have who nannied routinely dealt with the kids when they were sick. That’s one of the benefits of employing a private nanny in the first place.

Agh it is me, which makes me kinda annoyed. Little boy was sick on friday and Darling Husband and I had a huge fight because I really can’t take the time off and Darling Husband just plain doesnt want to take the time off to take care of little boy when he is sick. I ended up of course taking off, which go me because I get a ding against me because I called in for the day

Darling Husband or I stay home with our kids if they are sick. But we use day care and you can’t send a sick kid to day care. But you being pregnant has nothing to do with it.
