The jewellers we bought ours from in the jewellery quarter in Birmingham said to take off in the shower, washing dishes etc and especially in bed as it can catch which weakens the setting and you may put strain on without realising as you are asleep and the stone could fall out in the future! So I take mine off at night and don’t put it on again until I’m ready to leave, I wear it in the house when I’m lounging but take it off for house work and decorating. I love it so much I’m always checking the stone is still there! It’s so expensive and obviously the stone is the most valuable part! Mines a 1ct solitaire set in platinum. I turn it around on my finger to put on gloves and have done that in dodgy areas too as it looks like a plain band then. Wouldn’t wear it swimming as it would come off, in warm weather it fits perfect but in cold weather if I wave my hand with fingers open it would shake off!

I wear it literally 100% of the time, except maybe the 3 secs it takes me to put lotion on.. and thats if i remember to take it off!!!

alhems2015:  The only time I take mine off is for certain cooking where my entire hands are immersed in something. (Like mixing ground meat for meatballs with my hands). Other than that I keep mine on. I knew I didn’t want a really fussy ring that I had to constantly take off so when Fiance asked about style I was very insistent that I have a low setting without prongs. My ring is art deco style so the diamonds are set into the ring, there’s nothing to catch on anything. My diamonds are also small enough that I never take it off for fear of it getting stolen, I know that’s an issue for some women with huge rocks.

Maybe look into smaller rings, antique settings, and bezel settings if you want something that won’t get in the way.

I wear it whenever I am out of the house.

As soon as I get home I take it off and put it on a ring holder.

alhems2015:  I take my ring off if I’m doing something that will make my ring cornered in gunk or where I can bang it on something hard.

I wear it all the time except when I’m sleeping — I find it uncomfortable. Otherwise it’s on my hand. The jeweler told me to wera it and enjoy it, so I do. Diamonds are very hard (obviously) and can withstand a whole lot. The ring is more at risk (of being lost or stolen) when it’s NOT on your hand.

I only take mine off when I dye my hair or use bleach to clean.

alhems2015:  Yup-100% of the time. Granted I dont do dishes by hand, lift weights, or cook so it’s not too bad!

I wear my ring almost all the time. I take it off to put lotion on and when I am messy cooking like meatballs and such. I also took it off when I was playing softball but I hooked it on my necklace chain so it was actually off lol. Other than that I keep it no to shower, sleep, workout, everything.

I take mine off practically the minute I get home from work. I put it back on before I go to work or anywhere else the next day.

Mine is an heirloom ring and I’m more worried about losing it when it’s off then losing it off my finger. I do dishes, shower with it on etc. I only really take it off to if I’m putting lotion or hand sanitizer on my hands, to clean the ring, or do really messy things like paint or if I’m doing baking and kneading dough or something that will get into the rings nooks and crannies. Then I just have to clean it anyway so I take it off and put it somewhere safe until I’m finished.

alhems2015:

The only “protocol” is your personal preference.

My ring set stays on except when I am cooking or cleaning.

I take my ring off when I’m handling raw meat, kneeding dough, painting, swimming and putting on lotion. I wear it in the shower, when I clean, do dishes, etc.

Oh, I do take it off if I go golfing because otherwise I get blisters!

I wear my ring 24/7. The only times I didn’t wear it was in collge when I was taking ceramics class because it was a pain to clean afterwards.
