I told my husband the night after I got my positive pee stick. I didn’t reveal my pregnancy until I was 20 weeks along. I called my family, then posted an ultrasound pic to facebook and watched everyone freak out.

We told our parents immediately. We told our closest friends mostly the next day but some took a few days to get ahold of. All were told in the strictest confidence and no one broke it. We told them all on the phone except for those we reguarly see in person. We told extended family around week 12, a bit before the general public announcement. We told as many people as possible in person.

We told everyone else between 13 and 14 weeks, I think, by facebook and at that point, the secret was out.

I told Darling Husband immediately, my BFF at 5 weeks. We then told our parents and siblings at 7 weeks. At 12 weeks we told our grandmothers and after that it was official.

Darling Husband and i aren’t TTC until December, but we have a firm plan. If Darling Husband is with me when I test I’ll tell him immediately, but if not I’d like to surprise him with a onsie or something cute. For family and friends, we’ve decided that we each get a small number of people to tell immediately, likely two friends each. For family, we’re going to wait until 12-14 weeks. For extended family and friends (fb), we’re thinking a bit later like 20 weeks although we might go a bit earlier. We’re also planning on revealing the gender at the shower 🙂

I told my husband right after I tested positive because he walked in on me sitting on the bed holding the test freaking the fuck out.  In a good way.  I told my aunt by texting her a picture of the test (before I started freaking out on the bed where my husband found me) asking her if I was seeing things, or if there really was a line there.  I told my mom by texting a pic of the honest to goodness digital test that actually said “pregnant.”

Everyone else ended up coming up to me and asking.  I put on weight in my belly area really fast (wasn’t exactly baby, but looked like it) so by 12 weeks, I looked about 6 months along.  By the time I was 9 months, I was defying the laws of physics.

I did the facebook announcement at 12 weeks, since doing it before then is considered bad juju.

@saraja87:  If you’re planning on finding out the sex, I’d strongly urge you to tell people before the shower.  Gender neutral things are kind of a pain in the ass to find and it would make it a lot easier on the people buying you gifts to let them know ahead of time.

i told my husband as soon as he came from work. i had the afternoon to freak out and buy a digital test after 2 dollar store tests were positive.  then i waited a week until after i did the blood test at the doctor to confirm before calling our families.  then i waited until around 12 weeks to tell friends and told them as i saw or spoke to them.  finally after our 2nd trimester ultrasound where we found out the gender, i posted it on facebook with the ultrasound pic.

@hammerpants

That’s exactly what we’d like to avoid actually, we’re not into gendered stuff. Kids pick gender roles and stereotypes so early,  we’d like to keep things as neutral and unbiased as possible.

My husband knew as soon as I took the test.  We told immediate family and a couple of close friends after I had the pregnancy confirmed by my doctor at 6.5 weeks.  I’m now 10 weeks along and we plan to make it public after my 12 week ultrasound.  So far we’ve told everyone by phone.

Darling Husband knew a few minutes after I found out cuz i kept screaming OMG! lol We told our family immediate by just visiting and blurting it out….told a few close friends that way as well.  I didn’t know how far along I was because I have irregular periods so it was unrealistic to go by LMP…I ended up being only about 3-4 wks along which was super early, I kinda felt a lil nervous that we had told so many, even tho it was really that many but still….So far everything’s been great so thank God. We made our official fb announcement at 12 wks.
