OMG. so today we finally went to the photography place that my fiancé is so all about… and i had seen their work already (his sis used them for her wedding and his parents used them for each of their 60ths). so i knew that their quality was outstanding. of course they are expensive (to me anyways) but i am so ready to blow part of my budget on them. i love them and their wedding books are so pretty. sigh. i kinda wish we hadn’t gone in… my dress that i like is twice what i wanted to pay and now the pics are 2000…. but i really want good pictures. so i guess my mind is kinda made uo right…. think i am making a good decision?

i found a lady i liked a lot she cost about $1200 but she would never call me back
found another guy i’m kinda friends with on facebook he’s way better than her and will do it for $400

Yeah shop around. I haven’t gotten my pics yet, but I found a photographer that I like for low $$.

Be up front, tell them (politely and kindly) that you love their work, but this (maybe start at $1500) is your budget, say you’d love to have them but you guys are battling, and ask, if there’s anything they can do.
Most will look into a discount, and if not, then upping your deal, like throwing in another product to the mix.
It’s so worth it to get great photographers on the day, I’m sure you’ll be stoked if you love their work that much, but give negotiating a try, you never know 🙂

so we went back to this place and booked… i know i know… but my Fiance and his family have used them for every big function they have had in the last five years and have an “in” with them. so we get are whole engagement session free (which is like 600)… it just seemed like a good deal and the Fiance family really loves them and this is pretty much one of the only things that Fiance has asked for. His parents are paying for the pics. (it was either between pics or Honeymoon and we choose pics. Our Honeymoon is gonna be low key fourday stay in the lower 48)….

$2,000 is actually pretty low for exceptional photography! I think you got a deal…

I believe you that they are good, but they’re also not the only good ones out there.
I’d sit down and talk to your Fiance. His heart seems set on these photogs, and your heart seems set on the dress. Can you afford both?

@crayfish… that is what i am thinking now after seeing some posts on here and talking to friends here… i’m actually kinda excited about taking pics with them and i hate taking pics….
@Gemstone… we can do both because my FIL’s are paying for them. they told us Honeymoon or pics and we decided pics cuz we can do a mini-moon the weekend after the wedding and then save up to do our Honeymoon they way we wanted… so we both win!!!! woo hoo!!!!!

yeah, $2000 for photos is way cheap!! well, not cheap, but very very reasonable for great talent! some other commenters seem to be able to view their work… i can’t find a link. but my photographer was $3500 for an engagement session, him, a 2nd photographer, and unlimited time and pics, a bunch of albums, CD, etc. Photography is the one thing you shouldn’t skimp on, your photos are the one thing you’ll be left with to remember your day! Do you want them to be gorgeous works of art or look like your auntie muriel could have taken them with her Canon Powershot?? If you love these guys and can get them for as low as $2K then do it!
