I ordered my dress over the summer, but due to all sorts of stress and failing to take care of myself, I gained 20 lbs! I’m back on track with going to the gym and using MyFitnessPal, so everything should hopefully be okay, but I’m still pretty worried. Has anyone else ordered a dress that’s too small or gained after ordering? Hearing that other brides have made this work would definitely keep me from stressing too much! I keep envisioning it not zipping and that would be brutally embarrassing.

I bought mine off the rack so the size wasn’t exact. The seamstress had to let it out a bit. If you do have any issues, talk to a seamstress right away. They’ll be able to give you a good idea of how much they can let out.

Looks like your wedding is in October? Keep up your workouts and watch your calls on MFP and I think it’s definitely doable by then. But as the pp mentioned seek out a local seamstress who can make any adjustments closer to. Good luck!

You can also if it really comes down to it have your seamstress add a corset back this will also help if you are unsure of whether you will shift weight in the last few weeks before the big day.

Yes, this happened to me just last week. I bought the sample from the store, which they crammed me into. It is a 4 and I’m really a 6. I planned to lose 5 pounds and instead gained 5+. The seamstress is in the process of letting it out and it shouldn’t be too big of a deal, but I’m disappointed in myself.

It is doable to lose 20 lbs as you still have 10 months! So keep up the gym workouts and best of luck!

I feel ya girl! I am plus size and started a weight loss journey when I got engaged. I waited a long time to begin trying on dresses because I wanted to lose weight before I did. The weight loss was going great, and once I lost 30 pounds I began dress shopping. Well I found my dream dress and said to myself, “my weight loss is going so good I’m going to order a size smaller. I’m sure i’ll fit into it”….well silly me didn’t factor in that this was in October and soon after I ordered the dress the holidays hit and I haven’t been doing good at all 🙁 my first dress fitting is in 3 weeks and I’m only down about 7 pounds since I bought the dress- definitely not a full size! So I’m dreading the awkward “can’t zip” moment lol. It’s ok though I’m sure we’re not the first, we’ll get there eventually 🙂

First Bee, breathe. Its all going to be OK! Our weddings are around the same time, so we have lots of time to change habits and get fit!
