My husband and I are taking a road trip in France/Spain this summer. We’ll rent a car in France and from there, we’re heading to Spain and most probably spending 3 days or so in Barcelona before going back to France by following the coast; stopping in Figueres (spain), Carcassone and Perpignan (France).
Have you ever been in one of those cities before? Anything that I should absolutely go see, or places I should look into renting – or avoid?

You must see Parc Guel in Barcelona. It’s amazing!

I spent a few days in Barcelona and Figueres a few years ago. Barcelona is a beautiful city and the food is amazing! Since, our time was so limited, I made sure to check out the Gaudi architecture: Park Guell, La Sagrada Familia, and Casa Batllo. In Figueres, I went to the Dali museum and it was so much fun.

Oh yeah, definitely planning on going to the Dali museum in Figueres!
I’m a bit bummed that we only see that part of Spain because I’ve always wanted to go south, in Andalucia; but we have only 10 days for the entire trip so there’s really no way we can do it.
I’m sure Barcelona will be great though.
Thanks for your suggestions, and keep them coming!

Barcelona is AMAZING. I second Park Guel and also highly recommend Sagrada Familia, any of the houses designed by Gaudi, and wandering through the gothic quarter. The Picasso museum is also interesting if you’re into art.

Make sure you spend some time just walking down Las Ramblas, that was my favorite part of Barcelona!

Lots of great suggestions! I’ve been to Barcelona a couple times and most recently last summer. – Carcassone is so fun!! Great pick 🙂
In Barcelona, be sure to stroll OFF Las Ramblas. There are tons of cool shops back in the streets to the left and right. But keep your bag close and don’t be by yourself at night. My sis and I had some creepy moments on Las Ramblas and high tailed it back to find our bro and his friend last summer.
We did a bike tour – I think w/ Fat Tire tours. It was a lot of fun!!! Highly recommend. They take you to La Segrada, through the parks and to the beach for lunch. You dont’ get to go in La Segrada so you might need to go back and spend more time there. but its a great way to get the lay of the land.
Ummm THE BEACH. 🙂 We spent 1/2 of every day at the beach. We bought a cooler at a grocery store, filled it w/ beer and snacks and vegged on the beach. They have music and movies down there too sometimes. And vendors walk up and down the beach selling beer, soda, snacks etc. Just be sure to bargain. – We went in July/August – It was VERY hot.
