@HeMadeMeWantTo:  The bars hemingway spent time at were La Floridita and La Bodeguita del Medio.  I visted both of them and it was fun but over priced.

Americans can go to Cuba.  They just can’t legally spend money there.

@Pinkmoon:  really, you will love it.

make friends with Pepe the beach guy.  He has amazing hookups for a private Havana tour and so much cheaper.  Try to find another couple to go so there is 4 of you.   if you talk to him a lot he will save you specific beach chairs where you like to lay so they are there for you when you get to the beach.   you can either tip him every day or at the end of your stay.  We usually tip him a good amount at the end of the week.   He will try to sell you cigars but just tell him no thank you you have some already.

Alexander at the beach bar makes the best rum punch(don’t forget to bring your bubba mug)

Tanya at the main bar is AMAZING, great service and she’s an amazing person.

the staff really likes it when you talk to them about their life and families etc.

the beach there is so amazing and beautiful.  Much nicer then the ones up the stretch of beach.

The girls at the lobby bar make amazing drinks and amazing coffee in the morning.   They always stow away an extra bottle of baileys just for me because I love my morning espresso with baileys and in the evening.

Bar Laguna Azul at the pool has really good pizza and fries.  We practically lived off it the whole week.

if you have any questions ask away.  We always stay at this resort and we love it.  The staff is truly amazing and I advise to get to know them, they are great people with great stories.

@Pinkmoon:  My wedding is in Cuba in a month. We are getting married in Santa Maria Cuba. This will be my fifth time going and I love it there so much 🙂 I have also been to Varadero and Holguin. Make sure you bring Canadian money only and you are able to switch it at the hotel for the Cuba convertable pesos. Like a previous poster said bring snacks….I dont find the food horrible but it is definetly different then what we are used to in Canada. I’m a super picky eater but I always found something to eat while I was there..Cuba is definetly not known for its food. WE usually bring ketchup, stake sauce or hot sauce when we go.

@Pinkmoon:  We went to Cayo Coco. The beach was stunning, I couldn’t have asked for better. The resort was as you’d expect. We went on a boat cruise that was about $90/pp, but otherwise just hung out on the resort and relaxed.

@sweetchiquita12:  yea, I’m very picky but always found something.   If there is something you can’t live without putting on your food, bring it.  Like hot sauce, steak sauce, ketchup.  Although I like the ketchup there.
