phoebephoebo:  I looooved glendalough, it was gorgeous.  This is a fantastic recommendation.  We went in the pouring rain.  So, of course, we have to go back.

RunnerBride13:  Cliffs of Moher. Are you going to see much else of Ireland? I have many suggestions, if they’re needed.

RunnerBride13:  Also keep in mind you have to schedule any time on the Aran islands by the ferries which only run from particular towns at particular times of day. This was the only reason we didn’t go there, we couldn’t fit it in with the ferry schedules. It’s defintiely on the list for our next time though.

RunnerBride13:  We went to both, but I would say Giants Causeway would be better for a more ‘unique’ experience.  Cliffs are much more common, but the Giants Causeway is kind of a rarity so it’s defintely a neat place to see.

And I wanted to pipe in about the rental car situation.  We had one for 2 weeks in Ireland, and one of the tires popped.  We were damn lucky because the small town we were in had ONE tire (or tyre as they spell it there lol) in the size needed for our little Nissan Micra.  We never even thought to check out the tires before leaving, but when we were at the mechanics, he told us they were so bare, it was pretty unsafe to be driving with those tires.  It cost like $200 and when we returned the car, we told them what the mechanic said, and how dangerous it was and wanted to be reimbursed for the tire, but they refused.  Finally they refunded us a measely $40, and I wrote multiple emails to Budget, but never got a response.  We never have issues renting cars in Canada and the US, but we’re much more weary of renting cars overseas now.

RunnerBride13:  How fun! My husband in from just north of Belfast and I attended Queens University Belfast for my MA and lived there for 4 years. I also worked for a international exhange program and took students sight seeing in Ireland often. I would say the Giant’s Causeway hands down! Belfast is AWESOME and not touristy, the Antrim coast is astonishingly beautiful, the rope bridge is super cool,a nd Dunluce Castle is wonderful! Cliffs are just super duper touristy.

Belfast has an awesome Titanic museum as others have mentioned, and downtown is great fun! Have a blast!
