Honestly, I think they are uneccesary. But that’s just my opinion, I know many girls dream of their wedding photographer shooting these pictures. I’d rather use that half hour for another photoshoot that I’d otherwise wouldn’t have time for before the ceremony. And, I also would feel awkward having a photographer who I don’t really know, taking pictures of me getting ready. If anything, my maids with their digital cameras can take these pictures…
Anyone else not doing getting ready pictures, and why?

I am not doing getting ready pictures. I am not really a girly-girl, so I’m not into all the getting ready part as much as some people.

I’m limiting the getting ready pictures. My photographer usually suggests a half hour before you get the dress on, and then a half hour after for some bridal shots. I’m only having him come to my hotel room for about 20 minutes for a few pics, because I’d rather spend the time getting other shots…first look, bridal party pics, etc..

I didn’t do them, and I’m glad. It would have stressed me out. One of my BMs took a few pics, but I really prefer not having them. What’s the point of getting all dolled up but having your wedding album include pics of you with no make up and curlers in your hair? 🙂

We are lucky that we have our photographer for 12 hours, so we don’t have to worry. We’ll have her from getting ready to almost doors closing!

I am probably not doing them. To get the dream photographer I had to settle on having her for just six hours! Everything being equal, I’d rather have her at the reception longer vs. have pics of me getting ready. I know what I look like getting ready. I think I might have one of my friends take a few but really I dont feel like they are something I would want to hold onto much.

rebejane: i’m not a girly girl either so maybe that’s another reason why I find it annoying. I’ve nevery even heard of getting ready pictures until I started researching photographers!!

We have a “gap” between our ceremony and reception, and only booked our photographer for 8 hours, so if I’d wanted getting ready photos, we pretty much would have had to eliminate all photos of our reception.
Even beside that point I don’t think I would really want them. I’m sure I’ll be really nervous and wouldn’t want a stranger taking my pictures.
That said, one of my bridesmaids is a professional wedding photographer, and is going to bring her camera for a few “snapshots” of us girls hanging out and getting ready.

TIme with the photographer is not an issue for us he is the husband of a friend — we are paying for his service but we get him all day!! I just don’t know if I want to do the getting ready shots, I did then first time around and everything was so rushed my mother didnt even get her makeup on before the photographer started shooting. I think i might just want him to do some still life kind of shots of the gown, shoes, makeup on the vanity etc. But I do like the idea of the fake shots where it looks like a getting ready shot but you are already ready to go.

I was going to skip those to save some money… but Fiance wanted them!!

I skipped them but my sisters took a bunch. I really didn’t care either way.

I didn’t do getting ready shots, and I am fine with that decision. I like them on the ‘bee recaps, but I wouldn’t put them in my album or anything like that.
Also, I put off getting ready so long that getting into my dress was like this rush-rush thing! And I did my own hair and makeup so it would have made me nervous to have a photog there. Come to think of it, I think a phtog would have made me nervous no matter what. We took a couple pictures ourselves but no pro pics.
Our photographer took one of me putting on lipstick at the venue and that was enough 🙂

Well I am and I’m not – I’m going to give my girls some disposable camera’s and let them loose – I’m sure It’ll be lots of photo’s of big mugs of tea, bacon sandwiches, bucks fizz, hair curlers and sneaky cigarettes !!

My hotel doesn’t allow outside vendors and I didn’t want to leave the pics in the hands of the resort photographer. I am sending Fiance to his Bridesmaid or Best Man room and the ladies will join me in my room.

We only had a few pictures of me touching up my makeup and hair but no major getting ready pictures since I got ready at the salon and at home early in the morning.
