If you are wearing a wedding gown the guys must be in tuxedos.  It’s aformal affair.

Black suits for us.  Since we’re buying, not renting, I want something that would be a little more re-wearable than a tuxedo.

@ BethJames- how right you are. It’s amazing to me how many brides will spend days and untold dollars to find the perfect formal wedding attire for themselves and the bridesmaids, then allow the guys to wear some sloppy look because tuxedos are so “stuffy”. If the occasion is important to the bride, it should be important to the groom as well, with appropriate attire. Pictures last forever!

I would like my groom and men to wear either black or tan suits. I dont like the look of a tuxedo. Just because it is a formal affair doesnt mean you have to wear a tuxedo. To me Tuxedo = black tie. I think men can look just as sharp in a nice, well-tailored suit as opposed to a tux. I think tuxedos can sometimes look a bit cheesy. Also, a tux doesnt always go with the venue.

@Clarebee I so agree! And just like all wedding’s aren’t the same all wedding dresses aren’t the same. It’d be ridiculous for a groom to be in a tux if the bride is wearing something less formal like I am – I’m wearing a tea length dress and feel that if my legs are going to be on show it’d be weird to have my fella in a tux. Plus, it should be about what your Fiance feels comfortable about wearing.

most of our groomsmen own tuxes!  I like guys in suits but the tux fit our formality better.

We went with suits! A tux would have been too flashy for our wedding, and the hubs needed a suit anyway. Plus, why waste the money on renting something for one day that’s not even fitted to your body, when you can buy something that IS tailored to you and will be worn again and again? 🙂

By The Way, attempting to insult your key audience isn’t a great way to get your name out there… at least, not in a positive light. 🙂

@caitlinc….love the tan suit pix!  That’s what I’m planning to do too and I wasn’t sure if all of the guys would be able to afford it, but $125 is great!

My only concern is making sure the Khaki still makes my dress look white (even though it’s “natural”).  Any experience with this?

No tuxes for my men. They will be “suiting up” a la Barney Stinson. Nice, classy suits, not these sloppy suits that apparently exist…? My guys said they are relieved that they will be wearing suits that they can wear again another time.

@bellenga & Laylabelle: if you’ll read my post a little closer, you’ll realize I’m speaking about brides who think it’s no big deal for the groom to wear “some sloppy look” to a *formal* wedding– NOT suits, but slacks and open shirts, shorts w/Hawaiian shirts, guayaberas, etc, because it’s “who he is” or some such. Yes, we sell and rent tuxedos– and SUITS too! We only have stores in the Phoenix area, so I’m obviously not here in the hopes of doing a lot of business with Wedding Bee brides– just to answer questions where I can about a subject in which I have a lot of expertise. Sorry you were offended; obviously no offense was intended.

we aren’t doing tuxes either…formal just isn’t our style.  my FH will wear light grey jcrew pants with coordinating vest, white dress shirt and plum tie.  GM will wear same grey pants with grey suspeders and purple tie.  it will still look elegant, but not too fancy.  he’s going to look so handsome!
