Man it’s really starting to irk me! What is up with this?? Making up strange names, naming kids after objects and fruits, placing letters where they shouldnt be, using only y’s for vowels, misspelling normal names to be cool. Wtf stop it people!!! We can’t be having berthas, bubbles, bryndyls, and braendees representing us. We look like illerate fools!
And sorry don’t care if u don’t agree. There’s a differencebetween being creative and messing ur kid up!

Parents are trying way too hard to be creative and original. In the end, I’m ok with that as it doesn’t have to affect my life at all.
But when you start yelling at me because I HAVE MISSPELLED your child’s name, when you are the one who misspelled it in the first place, that’s where I draw the line.
Be as creative as you want. But realize that by your choice your child will have their name spelled incorrectly (by your standards) ALL THEIR LIFE. Their name on class pictures, award trophies, class and team lists etc will all be spelled wrong- get used to it.

I think Aleksandra is the proper way they spell it in some other countries, so I don’t find that weird.
But yeah I don’t understand the people that want their child to be “unique” so they misspell a name because they think it’s cool. Poor kids.

We have twins in the fifth grade whose names are Alex and Alexander. So even “normal” names are abused at times!
I think parents want their children to have unique names. So they change letters around, etc. What bothers me is when they spell the names WRONG. Like the kid whose name is Dylan…pronounced Day-lin.

I’m not sure – do they want their children’s names to stand out? or do they want people to think they’re “cool” because they gave their kid an unusual name?
everyone here knows my opinion on the subject so I’ll leave it at that.

@MrsSanchizel: We look like [illiterate] fools!
Have you spoken to anyone under 15 these days!? The world is going to hell in a handbasket no matter what we name our children!
I understand that languages evolve, but I agree that most of it seems over the top, unnecessary, and irritating.

Can I point out the spelling mistakes in people’s posts in this thread? Because they’re super ironic…

@MissBoPeep: Haha, I wondered that, too. Seems like a pretty standard, old-fashioned name.

@MissFireFlower: Maybe she was named after the condom brand that broke and brought about her existence. 😀
