Ok, so I’ve noticed lately that when I meet new family members of my boyfriend I get SUPER nervous for the first 2-3 minutes or so, and then I level out. It’s so bizarre. I have never had this problem before, but I think maybe it is because we’re from two different cultures and I get concerned about how I am perceived. I am fine otherwise. I never really get nervous meeting other people or talking in public.
Does this happen to anyone else?

im definitely like this in any new situation… i work myself up over the anticipation and then everything’s fine when all is said and done 😉
don’t worry i think it’s completely normal! and i think it’s because you want to make a good impression! you just care 🙂

Thank goodness someone else has that!! I was beginning to think it was nuts, because it seems so irrational to be that way. 🙂

If I were you I wouldn’t worry. I think most people are like this, including myself. I agree I think you just work yourself up over the anticipation of not knowing whats going to happen.

Oh I used to feel this way all the time with FI’s family. We are from different religions and I thought that they wouldn’t like me just because of it. Fortunately those fears were totally unfounded! I am really close with his family now and am so happy they will be my family once we are married.

At least your level out in a few minutes! It’s takes me a few encounters to level out so I can only imagine how I will be the day of the wedding when I’m getting introduced to a bunch of new family members! yikes!
