@HisIrishPrincess:  What I mean is that you seem to have trouble understanding that someone’s opinion could change.  If you believe something at one point, and then reconsider the issue, then your beliefs might change.  You say you were liberal until you got a paycheck.  Okay.  So your opinions changed as well.  How can you not understand that Obama’s opinion about gay marriage has changed?  Further, since you claim to have once been liberal, how can you now be willing to sacrifice the rights of others?

People have been saying this, and I will say it again: why is your paycheck more important than the rights of others?

@yogaqueen: I’ve found http://www.knowmycandidate.org/ to have some great information that appears to be non-biased. You can read about the stances of both Romney and Obama on all kinds of issues. It also gives a detailed history of their voting records on these issues.

Wasn’t this whole thread started b/c the op was annoyed by rude fb comments??? I mean COME ON people. We all need to STOP calling other people ignorant and stupid because they have different values and hold different issues at different levels. That’s why we’re in the United States. We’re free to have our own opinion. Also in regard to what other countries think… Do I care what the UK thinks? Nope! Why?? um because we broke away from them a while ago for a reason. Because we have different ideals as to how government should be run. So I’m not surprised that people over there or in other related countries (like Australia and Canada) have different ideas as to how to run a country. Once again, that’s the glory of being in the US. We tell the government what WE want it. Now let’s get back to the original vent.. and it was about how people are unnecessarily RUDE and INSULTING when it comes to politics.

Also, I’m going to repost this… as I feel it applies to posts on the bee as well.

@HisIrishPrincess:  don’t know if you ever noticed but whatever you donate or volunteer, unless it’s in millions, you get pretty much nothing back. I don’t even bother with Goodwill receipts. Still didn’t change my mind about donations.

I don’t think that Obama flip-flopped on gay marriage. It was more of a progression. He was always for civil unions. Then when he took office, he got Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repealed. He also told the DOJ to stop prosecuting the Defense of Marriage Act. I feel like coming out in favor of gay marriage is very much supported by his previous actions. It’s not like he was pro-choice then decided he was pro-life. That’s flip-flopping.
