It depends on where you are shopping!

Pinup Girl Clothing goes up to a 2x and carries cute, retro swimsuits.

ModCloth carries up to a size 26.

Lany Bryant has some decently cute ones on their website.

Old Navy goes up to 4x.

I think they are harder to find, but not impossible if you look around. Unfortunately, ordering off the internet might be a better bet than shopping in-store. :/

Yeah every year when I want to buy a new swimsuit I think okay I’m not a old lady, so why do all of these look like old lady suits.

What kind of bathing suits do you like?  I’m about a size 16 and I LOVE Lands End suits.  Especially because you can order them in D and Dirty Delete.  Personally, I like the mini skirts, but they have all sorts of bottoms and they have most everything in plus sizes, too.  The only thing I don’t like is that they’re fairly pricey.  I hate that because I’m bigger I can’t go buy cute $12 bikins at Target or wherever.

Someone already suggested Modcloth and they are right on! I got a suit there last summer that is absolutely beautiful! Here is the link to all of their swimsuits: http://www.modcloth.com/shop/swimwear#?price=26,190&sort=newest&page=1

They have a lot of really cute/retro swimsuits. I really recommend the “Bathing Beauty” swimsuits if you’re looking for something form fitting that will look good on curves. I got the one in Emerald! 🙂

I’ll second the suggestion for Lands End. Their suits are really good quality and come in all sorts of combos.

I find choices limited too, This one is kinda cute: http://www.1-plus.com/swirl-print-halter-tankini/705711,default,pd.html?dwvar_705711_color=Black%20Swirl&start=6&cgid=AE-Apparel-Swimwear (they have a store but it’s in Canada, don’t know where you are)

@Future MrsB: I know! it doesn’t take THAT much more material to make a plus suit that you can buy a regular one at $12 but plus one’s start at $50! Same for bra’s…don’t get me started on bras.

@T-Rex:  I adore Modcloth too! Good luck in your search! Hopefully they will have something on their site (they have a pretty good number of plus size suits as far as I can tell). 🙂

Depending on how plus-sized you are, you might have good luck with the Spanx suits. I was also able to fins great suits at Everything but Water when I was a 16 or 18, but that would be the limit and selection was limited.

I was just in Old Navy yesterday and they had some really cute suits.

I personally own the black one and I love it. The halters are adjustable and the ruching camoflauges problem areas.

MiracleSuit is (expensive but) great, because the lycra gives so much support.

Buying a bathing suit sucks….Good luck!!!

I agree with cyberswim, as they sell Miaraclesuits.  These things really are a miracle.  I hate most bathing suits on me because they don’t provide enough control and support.  I have about 4 or 5 Miraclesuits and I love them.  I could serioulsy do jumping jacks in them and there would be no jiggle.  I love that support!  Sometimes Lane Bryant does sell them online and when they do, you can sometimes get a good price using 40% off deal or something like that. They are expensive, but worth it!  Sizes run true to size or up one size from what you are wearing in clothes.
