Because shopping for Christmas presents is hard.

Because everyone is usually together and it’s a way to break the news without calling 100 people.

They’re times you naturally think about what you’re thankful for and what you love. We’re surrounded by media telling us to show our love through financials means.

@Future_Mrs_Dr_I:  Because jewellery stores advertise engagement rings like crazy at the holidays.  Because movies always show holiday proposals as super romantic.  Because it’s an ‘easy out’ for gift shopping.  Because everyone is together so you don’t have to make a bunch of phone calls.

There’s some negative Nancy’s on this thread! My Fiance proposed to me the day before thanksgiving because he really wanted us to be able to celebrate with our families the next day and that’s when everyone even out of town family is around. I loved it.

I agree that it is a time when many people are with their families, and many people want to share their engagement with their families so it makes sense to propose during the holidays. I also agree that it is difficult for many men to holiday shop, so it is sometimes appealing to cover two bases with the ring (proposal and holiday gift)!

Because men are uncreative 😛

Just kidding, this thread has brought up a lot of other very valid reasons, but I do think a lot of men want to make sure they do it at a time that’s very romantic, and I feel like some of them are like, oh, around Christmas is perfect!

Fiance thought about proposing at a concert on New Year’s Eve, but I’m happy he didn’t because that would have been his dream proposal, not mine. He proposed on a random day in March during a vacation, and it was perfect.

I agree with a lot of the ideas above. Btw, has anyone seen this photo from Reddit? The caption was “Proposal Season.”

It’s that time of year where people are in a festive mood and a bit more sappy about family, I think. There are also a TON of jewelry store commercials and promotions/sales.

Some ladies want their families present during the proposal, and Xmas is the perfect time for that.
