doesn’t seem like concern or being nosy at all.. just like “i’m looking forward to a night of fun”. lighten up!

@Diamondgurl:  I mean, it’s a bit annoying, I get that. But to be fair…if there’s anything they should be concerned about, I guess it’s that. 🙂 And maybe the food. People are just terrible at having conversations sometimes, I think.

I’d be happy your even playing any.  At my reception music and dancing is almost a no-no so were having an after party so we can have a fun reception.  That said its your wedding I’d take the suggestions and just say something along the lines of well there will be a DJ also I’d have a talk with the DJ about not letting people but in requests or having a banned list, if you haven’t already…

Yes, I have had people ask me what type of music we will be playing. The first time I was kind of caught off guard and just said “a good mix” like duh??

However, I was at a wedding last sumer and all they played was hip hop and club music. It was awful. So I guess some brides really are NOT aware of who their guests are and what type of music everyone wants to hear.

I think the music is super important.  If the music sucks, so will the party.

I think it’s because the music can really set the tone for the type of reception you’re having. My husband and I left a family wedding quite early recently when the reception became very “clubby” — trance, hip-hop, dubstep, lots of cross-fading, etc. Very very trendy, and on further reflection, certainly expressed the bride and groom’s personality and interests (and that of many of their guests), but soooooo not my scene.

Reframe if possible: they’re looking forward to gettin’ down at your wedding! 🙂

dont want to sound evil but…… maybe you are known to have ‘different’ taste in music and people are honestly concerned?

i have definitely had people ask about the food, the band etc but never insist that they help me pick the band

@Diamondgurl:  Those kind of comments seem weird and out of place to me.  I’d ignore it!
