Ugh, I do. I am 5’4, 102 and I have heard plenty of snark. It was worse in high school than it is now, but probably just because people learn to keep their mean thoughts to themselves. I have always got it worse from women too, which I hate. Don’t put others down just because of your own body issues!

I had a similar experience when dress shopping. I have a 30Dirty Delete chest, and wear a size 0 dress size. I was pouring out of the top of the dress I liked, and the salesperson was being really nasty about it, suggesting that if I wasn’t so thin and was “normally proportianed” that I would look much better. Some people are just rude.

I hear you on that one – it is SO annoying!

I’m 5’4 and 95 lbs I eat what I want in large quantities and rarely work out – i just have a super fast metab and it’s super hard for me to gain weight!!!

Don’t be stressed about dress shopping – you’ll look amazing in everything!!

My sister has been in the same position her whole life … she responds with “Why are you so judgemental?” or “Why are you so fat?”

The kicker was when she was walking down the street and a very large woman said “God, eat a sandwich” to her as she passed. My sister, always quick on her feet said “Just had 6!”

Hah, I had the opposite problem with my alterations lady. I’m very much pear shaped – when I was in the dress, she poked at my hips and said they were very unproportional to the rest of me, but that “at least it will make having babies easier some day!” Gee, thanks for pointing out my big hips, lady. Without you there to point them out I’d never have noticed!

I used to have that issue in my teens, thankful I gained some weight. I did look sick though because I was 5’9 and weighed 105 pounds on a good day.  I think it’s quite normal for people your height to be in the weight range, so he is a jerk ignore it.

ps: I would also like to say it’s not ok for anyone to comment on peoples weight, and beilive it or not overweight people get it just as much if not more in my opinion so I don’t think people think it’s only acceptable to comment on a thin person apparence.

I get this ALL the time.. I hate it. I feel like it is so rude. Once someone actually asked me how many times a day I have to “make myself” poop to maintain my weight. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor.

Don’t worry about dress shopping though! When I went, I got a couple of comments about me being thin, but nothing that made be feel bad.

@misspeanut:  How tactless!

@pecanpie:  OMG. Who asks people about their pooping habits?!?!

Just yesterday in my office building I had someone ask me how often I have to run to be so skinny (I don’t run and I’m not super tiny…5’9″ and 135-140 lbs).

When I was buying my bridal shower dress I stopped in The Limited and picked up a size 4 off the rack (typical for me) and it was HUGE!!! I ended up choosing a different style and had to buy an “Extra Small.” Seriously. I’m 5’9″ with size 10 feet. I might be slender, but nothing about me is XS. The lady at the register snarked me when I made a joke about the sizing and snapped that “This is really more of a womens store.”

Oooooook then. I suppose I’m not a woman? Weird.

“Why is it not ok to comment on someone being overweight but perfectly acceptable to comment on someone who is thin?”

I’ve wondered this my entire life. They’re BOTH rude as hell. And I’m so over people trying to say that it’s different.
