For privacy. Not everyone wants to put a face to their name on the internet. Some people may want to feel comfortable posting about private topics such as their relationships.

Some people don’t want to be able to be identified in their actual lives. Weddingbee is huge and if someone Googles for something wedding related it is likely a Weddingbee post will pop up.

A lot of women post stuff about their wedding before it has happened (favors, food, etc) and would like it to remain a surprise for their guests. Others come on here to vent about a specific person. Since weddingbee links all your posts in your profile, it wouldn’t take long for someone to recognize your picture and be able to read all your posts.

Other women just like being super cautious about keeping their online identity anonymous.

@babyboo: ditto. I love seeing pictures on recaps that aren’t blocked out, but I understand why some bees do it elsewhere on the boards. I do it myself.

Yeah… I have to admit that I love it when peoples’ pics have their faces because you get a way better idea of how things look, but I would never put my face on here for the privacy reason that cakegal mentioned.

Also, I would be worried that people I already know might be on here, and might recognize me, and then know what I’ll be wearing on the wedding day.  Or might recognize me in one post, and then look at things I’ve said in other posts that I might not have wanted to share with someone I actually know. (Edit:  Babyboo beat me to making this comment!  In a much better-written way…)

I tried to do this for a while then I threw caution to the wind. Especially now that the wedding’s over. Don’t think I have any big secrets that will get me in trouble if someone I know comes on here, at least I hope not 🙂 Once I wrote something that was private but then asked Mr.Bee to delete it which he nicely did. I still hope Wedding Bee posts wouldn’t show up on Google or Yahoo searches though. Also I wouldn’t put more private photos like my boudouir pics here.
