Why can't I just get answers online from florists??

mnl2017 :  I thought the same thing.  We had to drive to our florist last weekend.

I personally think they do it bc it’s easier to “upsell” you.  There are flowers in the shop, photos that aren’t available online, plus there is that face to face pressure.

we had to wait a week for our price quote and it was like 1k over what we wanted lol

mnl2017 :  I found that the same is to be true of most wedding vendors. Unless you are there in person, they don’t want to waste their time on you. It’s very frustrating.

That would be very annoying!!  Maybe it’s the area you live in??  I was able to get quotes via email, no problem.  I also only got a couple though (we ended up doing fake flowers) so maybe I would’ve had the same issue too, idk.

mnl2017 :  Ugh, how frustrating – I’m so sorry! I got really lucky and seriously every florist I contacted was happy to assist me via email! Actually, our wedding is a few hours away, and there are 2 vendors we have hired that we have yet to meet in person – one of them being our florist!

Just to play devil’s advocate. It probably is really annoying when you are trying to put arrangements together, send out contracts, create estimates and invoices, and deal with your daily business of arranging and delivering flowers to have to sit down and answer every email that wants you to take the time to give an estimate without bothering to meet with them and go through your exact wants and needs. It’s very easy for someone to type an email and not be serious about using a service. I totally get it not being an easy thing to find time in your schedule, but its probably not easy for them either and most likely they’ve been burned too many times by people wanting them to waste time on a proposal they won’t even follow through with.

Try Bloominous! They operate online and by phone. My sister is using them for her wedding and she got excellent prices.

mnl2017 :  Sorry you’re having such hard time. Can you maybe put your own flowers together? Have you tried a grocery store that has flower department? We used grocery store for our flowers and they were beautiful!

I’m planning a wedding 2 hours away and I haven’t met many of my vendors in person, I’ve just scheduled calls or skype sessions. For flowers, it was super helpful to talk on the phone with the florist while looking at photos together. Lie and say you’re out of town and need to do a call 🙂

mnl2017 :  can you at least find time for a phone call? I do think that while it is a bit of a waste to meet people in person there is a lot that you “say” when you meet people that can help you make a much better match… I would suggest telling them that you are serious but due to your current schedule it is just going to be too hard to meet at this time and suggest a call to go over everything (combined with emailing info in advance)
