I received a call a few days ago letting me know that the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are in (yay!) and that the girls could go in whenever to pick them up. Well, I went today with one of my BMs and the lady at the store tells me that they are moving locations in a week and that all the BMs need to pick up their dresses ASAP because she doesn’t want them to get lost/ruined in the move. While I appreciate her concern for the dresses’ safekeeping, it’s irritating that she didn’t notify me sooner! I feel badly telling my girls that they must shell out $100 NOW so they can take their dresses home. I know that there is nothing I can really do about it, I’m not trying to fix the problem, I just needed to vent. I know some of my BMs are on a tight budget and it seems so insensitive of me to expect them to spend so much money on such a short notice. I just hope they understand it’s not me being demanding, it’s the bridal store that is causing the inconvenience. I feel like I should help my BMs somehow as an apology, but this isn’t my fault! I’m so conflicted..

So, what, otherwise they would just toss your dresses into a truck and see how they fared when they arrive at the new location? What kind of store tells you they might lose or ruin the dresses you ordered? That’s pretty irresponsible and weak.
They decided to move locations, this is their problem. Until those dresses are fully paid for and picked up, it’s the store’s responsibility to keep them safe and in perfect condition. If your girls will have trouble coming up with the money on short notice, I’d call the store back and tell them they’ll just have to move them and they damn well better not lose or damage them.

That’s very bad customer service on the store’s part. Sorry that you have to deal with this. But why not just pick up all the dresses for your BMs and they can give you the money when they have it.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I have 7 BMs and can’t afford to pay for all their balances, even temporarily. I did pay off my MOH’s since she lives 3 hours away and would not be able to come down before the store’s move. Maybe I will offer to pay for the 2 BMs that are on the tightest budgets, they can pay me back in payments. I really wish they would have told me sooner. So frustrating!
