Mine’s a silly reason (at least it will seem like it to others). There was only two Saturdays on which the 24th fell on. My favorite number is 24. One was in March and one was in November. We chose March because the one in November was the same weekend as Thanksgiving and it was just too far away!

For us, it’s a year from our engagement date.  It’s also the beginning of spring in this area, with the cherry blossoms at their peak around then (3/31/12).

I chose it because it’s the middle date between our birthdays. Technically March 10th is, but I wanted a Friday wedding.

I have a couple of reasons actually. 1) We wanted it on my grandfather’s birthday which is March 1, but since it’s a Thursday, my mom vetoed that and we moved it back to March 10. 2) We go to a drag racing event in March in FL every year, and it’s either the first or second weekend of March every year, so this way, we always have an excuse to go because it’s our anniversary. 3) We’re getting married in Florida, and February/March and October/November are really the only months with fairly predicable weather and it’s USUALLY not a gazillion degrees outside then…hopefully.

@CindyRelly: Same here! Go date twins!

Also, I wanted an outdoor wedding, and in Houston, March is statistically the driest month of the year. It’s also usually a pretty pleasant temperature.

We had a few reasons. We wanted to get married in the spring, but this spring seemed too soon since we are both easily stressed. We also already knew six people getting married in 2011, so we wanted to wait (which is good, since two more people are now getting married this year!). People will have time to recover from the 2011 weddings. Anyway, 3/31 is almost exactly between our birthdays. It’s the one time of year we’re the same age (I’m older). Also, it’s beautiful cherry blossom season in the DC area. It was mainly the birthday thing though. We’ll both be 27!

@CindyRelly: Oh, we’re definitely embracing it. Fiance and I are Irish(ish), so our families would be pretty upset if we didn’t. Our colors are pale green, ivory, and black. We’re definitely going to have green beer, lots of Irish music for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and we’re going to have a photo booth with lots of cheesy St Patrick’s Day props. I’m still not sure if we’re going to try to do any kind of typical Irish food with the menu, though. What about you?

Hey girls! I chose my March wedding date for a few reasons… 1) We are getting married in New Orleans and the weather can get pretty nasty!! March and October are great months in New Orleans weather wise. 2) My sister (MOH) is a teacher and we needed a week that she would have off from school, so that made March our only option cause its spring break for us 3) I chose the 16th because its during spring break and i chose Friday instead of Sat. cause I wanted all my guests to be able to enjoy the St. Patty’s Day Festivities in New Orleans, and its also my moms bday on the 17th so I didnt want to hog all the spotlight from her.

It should be a good weekend with a weddnig, St. Patty’s day and my moms bday ๐Ÿ™‚

@McVerde:That sounds so much fun!!  Yup we’re embracing it too .. we’re also Irish (ish) LOL!!!!!!   I’m not having a ceremony… prob just do JOP.. no reason other than I’ve never been that girl who dreamed of a wedding ceremony. Just a reception! LOL!  So we’re having a more traditional reception.

I love the photo booth idea! My colors are going to be sage, ivory and not sure what.. I like the antique orange and yellows too…

I am DEFINITELY going to try to have corned beef there… I’m hoping they can do sliders or something?  And yes, green beer!

For a favor I thought of something cute.. after Halloween I”m going to see if I can find those mini cauldrons and buy them up and then fill them with gold coin candies and fancy them up with some ribbon in my colors… little leprechaun pots:)
