Just curious… why did everyone choose the dress that they did? If you have gotten/still have dress regret, why? I chose mine for comfort and because it was the first dress I said, “Wow, that’s absolutely beautiful,” out loud. Every now and then I do have dress regret – wish I tried on more trumpet style dresses (I was deterred from them at first because of my body shape – petite pear). I also sometimes get the dress regret because I feel like my dress is too formal for a small (~50 ppl) wedding. But then I remember it’s my wedding day and I can wear whatever the hell I want! haha
Please share your reasoning(s) and pics of course!

So I haven’t officially gotten my dress yet, but I am buying it pre-owned. The only reason it is more than I want to spend is because of how crappy the Canadian dollar is right now, but it’s literally the only dress I saw and was like “that’s it, that’s the one for me!”. It’s a huge bonus that I won’t need many alterations (theoretically), the gal selling it is only 2″ taller than I am, but the rest of our measurements are pretty spot on.

bell616: I voted for “In my budget” and “Other” in the poll. It was in my budget, but the main reason was that it felt like me. I tried on another style that was more traditional and it was everything that I thought I wanted, but it felt like I was playing dress up in that dress. My mother and aunt cried, and the attendant put a tiara and a cathedral veil on me with that dress, but I felt like I was dressing up in costume as Kate Middleton instead of being myself. The one I ended up with is still very pretty, but it feels more fun and I feel like myself in it, which was the most important thing to me.

I bought my dress because I loved it. And that was the main reason. I loved it when I saw it in an online search and no other dress compared. I was so scared it was going to look horrible on me, but I was great! So I bought it! It was in budget and matched my venue but that was just bonus. The main reason I bought it is because there was no other dress that compared.
No dress regret for me!

I think I got jipped a little bit when I bought mine. Don’t get me wrong, I love my dress, but I always have some anxiety over it until I see pictures again. And I’m pretty laid back about my wedding so far.
I tried on 4 dresses total, so I wish I shopped around a little bit more. The other dresses were really big on me and needed to be clipped and looked awkward. Mine fit PERFECTLY. Like it was seriously made for me. It was nothing like I imagined but I bought it anyways.

It flattered my figure, and it was reasonably priced.

bell616: There was no reasoning. I fell madly in love with the dress when I saw it on the hanger. I knew the moment I saw it that any other dress would be second best.

I brought a picture to the salon of a dress I liked, I tried on a couple other things, then the consultant brought the dress from the picture and…… That was it! I shopped for a total of an hour.

I picked mine because it was in my budget, COMFORTABLE, and appropriate for my daytime brunch wedding. I tried on some BEAUTIFUL gowns that, in the end, just felt too formal. So while I’m sad to have passed up my chance to twirl in a ball gown, I’m REALLY pleased with my lace sheath dress.

I had regret because I didn’t get what *I* wanted and instead got what I thought others would like better… I ended up with my second dress because I knew it was what I wanted and didn’t care what others thought. It fits my personality and wedding vision better than the first.

The dog chose my dress. I purchased two very different dresses, one very blingy ballgown and another soft and flowy chiffon. Hung both on my office door for a picture. I didnt even notice the dog walk in but in one pic he is in front of the dress and facing the camera with a huge smile. I set up a poll and most voted for the dog’s pick. It is a a simple dress but elegant. It will be very comfortable and cool on a day that will be warm. The other was returned to the store. Dog has good taste!

It suited my frame. I am short waisted and lots of dresses fit poorly on me but my wedding dress was perfect for mey odd proportions and had a tulle skirt (had always dreamed of wearing one of those).

I voted for “other” because while my dress was in my budget, I chose it because it fits my personality and wasn’t overwhelming. I felt like all the dresses I tried on kind of swallowed me, while the “one” made me feel like a beautiful bride! I bought the dress super early though, (only a couple weeks ago, and my wedding is still a year out!) so I am having some dress regret too. I do wish I had tried on a couple more ballgowns, but I still love my dress & think it works so well for me, my venue & theme!
Here are some pics of the dress on the model (I don’t have a sash for mine, though)
