I asked Fiance if he liked my hair better short or long, and he said long. I told him I’d grow it out for the wedding, and that that would be the last time he got to pick anything about my appearance :).

I knew I wanted my hair up and full. I didn’t want the lack of it to prevent me from having the style I wanted.

@skyeatnight: haha, yeah. I didn’t want him to get the wrong impression by letting him choose it for the wedding, so I thought I would set ground rules :).

My hair has always been about shoulder length (or a little longer).

I would love to always have my hair around mid-back, but it’s just so hard to deal with (and I end up defaulting to the “cheerleader ponytail” all the time).

I guess I”m using the wedding as an excuse to grow it way out and then I’ll cut it back to a little below shoulder length.

I really wanted an updo but when we started talking about marriage I only had a chin length bob, so if I wanted my hair up I first needed hair to put up. lol it has gotten out of control though my hair is now down to the middle of my back.

For some reason I thought I needed it to be long for an updo. But I hate my hair long, if I could do it over again I would have kept it shorter.

I look like a boy with short hair! Ok, maybe the fancy dress would curb this somewhat, but in my street clothes, I was always mistaken for a boy. Hence, I keep my hair long and will for my wedding.

I am currently growing mine out for my wedding next fall.  I just like the way I look with long hair better, and it feels more “me.”  I’ve had long hair almost all of my life, barring the razor bob I got from Bumble & bumble last summer.  I loved the bob with my then-blonde hair, but as soon as I realized that my then-bf was the one, I decided to go back to my natural color and grow it out.  Right now the longest layers are a bit past my shoulders, and it should be a pretty good length by the wedding.  I also do think it will give me more options, particularly since my hair is very fine and I’ll need more for any intricate dos.

I have a large scar on my back from surgery I had on my spine. It is ragged, not smooth, and not straight (it angles from my left shoulder blade up to my right shoulder blade) My dress is strapless (and therefore, backless) so I decided to grow my hair out to hide the scar so people aren’t asking me all night how I got my scar! (As people tend to do when I wear tank tops…)

I am growing my hair out more on a whim than anything else. It’s in the best condition that it’s been in for years so I figured it wouldn’t do any harm to let it grow.

I knew exactly what hairstyle I wanted (a French twist type look), and my hair is very fine and slippery, so if I want it to stay up/have any body, I need to grow it out.

The only other time in my life I had a professional updo was for prom, when my hair was maybe chin-length (growing back in after I shaved my head when I was 16). Props to my stylist: it looked great. Short hair can look AMAZING. But it can’t do a French twist, at least not on me. And with my weird baby-hair, it needs a little extra love.
