socalgirl1689 :  The weekend we wanted originally was a bank holiday and already booked up, so we went for the week before (on a Friday actually) and my birthday was the Sunday so it seemed like a fun weekend!

Our venue only allows weddings during the summer.

I did not want to have a wedding in August because it was outdoors and there is no AC.

We went with June, though my heart was always set on a fall wedding. Alas!

My FH is a teacher so we literally just picked a date that was off peak so it was cheaper, and then fell in one of his holidays so we have time afterwards.

It also falls between our birthdays and its the other end of the year to our dating anniversary, so it spreads celebrations out well and we will have a good excuse to go away at that time of year from now on!

How I picked my date. JK. I wanted to get married during tulip season. April 25th just happened to be a coincidence.

We chose our venue first, and they gave us a list of available dates within the time range we wanted to get married. We chose the one that worked best for us. We’re getting married on July 20th.

The venue we decided to go with had only 2 dates available for this fall, and I didn’t want to wait until next spring. 9/28 is my uncle’s birthday so I was leaning towards 10/5, but I found out a close childhood friend had her stepsister’s wedding that day and wouldn’t be able to make it. She’s not in my bridal party but if I had one more person in it, it would be her. It wouldn’t feel the same without her there and I would’ve felt odd making a choice which meant she couldn’t attend. So 9/28 it is.

October 18. We wanted an autumn wedding and to not be too close to my best friend who got married in September of the same year. We cared more about the venue than the date and it was available. It also worked out when my Mother-In-Law tried to object to a Saturday wedding because “Jews don’t get married on Saturday” (except for literally every single one of my husband’s cousins….) and we said “but it’s chai!” hahahaha
