For privacy of course.  Since people do talk about very private subjects, they don’t want their real identity to be associated with their username.

I saw a thread where someone lifted a picture of me wearing a particular dress so she could use it in another thread.  That was an innocent use.  However, what if someone lifted one of our pictures and used it for something not-so-nice?

Just a thought.

I don’t think most people would broadcast personal stories about their “vaginas, anal sex, mean or hurtful SO’s, family, kids, happy times, sad times, all kinds of emotional issues, etc etc” over public internet without some degree of anonymity.

Because it is SO easy to find a thread on here using google and you cannot delete a thread or post after 1 hr.

My Fiance actually found one of my threads on here that came up on the first page of a google search.

I have done so when posting wedding dress pics because my mom has convinced me not to show me in it because what if somehow he sees it before the wedding.

& I feel like I can be more open and honest on here because bees are usually less judgmental than people I know in real life. (Ex. I can ask “anyone know where to buy cheap [insert item]?”

Plus, I don’t want everyone knowing every detail of my wedding before it happens. Only Fiance has seen my wedding planning blog. (I wont even give my mom a link haha!)

privacy reasons im sure – i cant tell you how many times i’ve google searched something and pictures from the bee show up. – i know if i search a certain style dress i tried on, my pic comes up…you have to scroll a little bit so its not the first thing that pops up but its there..kinda creepy right?

I heard a story where a mommy blogger had a picture she posted on her blog of her family ended up being used for some sort of advertisement for a small business in Eastern Europe (I think it was Poland? not sure)! Like, WTF?

I was thinking about that today.  I would blur my face, so my Fiance couldn’t search by my username and find a picture of me in my dress, lol.

That and everything we post is on the internet forever.  Usernames make us a little more anoymous, but pictures reveal everything.

I think the answer is pretty obvious, people hide their faces so that their posts can retain some amount of anonymity. The whole reason why bees can talk freely about intimate topics is because those intimate posts are not linked to their identity. Most of us found this site by searching for somethine wedding related on google, you dont want yourpicture to come up in a search result and for someone to then linke your picture to the rest of your posts. I made the decision not to post any personal pics of me on this site at all for this very reason.

I once posted a picture of myself in my dress.  The next time I google searched my dress designer and style name, my picture came up on the first page of google images!  I wasn’t cool with that, so I had WB support remove it and haven’t posted another picture since.

Privacy–I would love to post my recaps but then I would worry contantly about coworkers or who knows who else stumbling upon the boards. And I KNOW Darling Husband would hate having his face on the internets. If I do I will probably blur out our faces.
