Thanks to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, I feel like I’m living in the middle of the green zone right now!
I sat down next to him on the couch the other night and watched him play. That lasted all of 2 minutes.
The blood splattered all over the screen or ‘helmet visor’ since it is a first person shooting game, was enough for me!
It’s just weird.. he’s not a violent person by any means, could barely stand to smash a bug, is not in the military, doesn’t even go HUNTING, but he LOVES that game!

Maybe it’s the primal man grunt grunt thing. So scientific I know lol.

I will never understand guys and those dumb shooting games! My brother used to play those all the time. I think theyre so pointless and i hate them!

While I can’t answer for a guy, my sister says she loves those types of games (and she too is non-violent, won’t smash a bug, etc) as a way to release pent up frustration from folks she deals with at work.

@ eloping – He used to play Tomb Raider all the time too! But to me, that wasn’t so bad because he wasn’t directly going after PEOPLE.. and it wasn’t quite so graphic.

I like them. Good way to release frustration, as was mentioned above.

@okqueenbee – yeah, i dont mind the games that arent too realistic. fortunately hubby feels the same way so he doesnt play alot
i have a friend who is married to a marine and she says when he came home from deployment (august i think) he went thru withdrawls as he played so much while away he was addicted

@okqueenbee- i feel your pain!!!! Fiance just got into Call of Duty and i can’t even watch anymore, its so gross / makes me angry. I understand releasing frustration with a game, but sometimes i wish it wasn’t sooooo graphic and disturbing. On the flip side, i grew up not being able to play with water guns so i may be tooo sensitive to games like these.
i wish he’d get back into mario bros!

My fiance is terrible at first person shooter games. So he just plays mario kart and yells at king boo a lot.

@ kittyachi – I’d rather hit something or throw something (like a punching bag or a pillow – just being honest 😉 when I’m super pissed off, than playing one of those games!
@ eloping – wow.. I would think that kind of a game is the LAST thing an active duty soldier would want to play!
@ krissybee – yeah..seriously.. the gore makes me sick. It’s just too REAL. If they were going after something like zombies or monsters, that’s different – but shooting people is too much.

Mine claims it helps him blow off some steam after a long day at work.

@ krissy & diorable – Yay for Mario!!

Mr. Scissors is constantly playing modern warfare 2. I’m so tired of hearing those noises over and over again. :p

I just read my own post:

So I’d rather really be violent, than fake being violent LOL. (but then again, punching or throwing a PILLOW is not necessarily violent :P)
