tomkitty :  Chiavari chairs are also around that price in my area but I do think they would look amazing in that venue! The annual wedding show in my area had multiple vendors that gave out coupons for $5 chiavari chairs. Maybe try that if there’s one near you before your wedding? Our venue included chairs that were slightly better looking (the folding white chairs), but for some reason I hated them and decided to bite the bullet and pay to rent my own. I think in the end they are worth the investment as they really have a huge impact on the overall look of your wedding! You can down play some other decor if you decide to invest in them. Good luck bee!

Chairs were really important to me too! During the decor deciding process (picking out linens, deciding whether to upgrade chairs, get charger plates) I was told “if you have a vision in mind, or a look that you’re drawn to, it’s best to stick with that otherwise you won’t be happy”. For whatever reason I was VERY drawn to gold and ivory — Now they could’ve just been saying that to get me to spend more money, but honestly I am so glad I went with my gut and picked what I wanted (granted I knew as long as I kept working full time I’d be able to pay for it). I think chairs definitely play a role in dressing up the overall look of the space. I hope you can find some rentals that are affordable! We had gold chivari chairs that our venue was able to rent for us so I think it made the process pretty simple, just more money.

tomkitty :  your venue is GORGEOUS!  They should be ashamed of themselves including those chairs with the rental fee.  I am also going to echo most others and say to rent chairs.  The chairs are what you have most of at the reception, I would skimp somewhere else to make it happen.  BTW, I am in the DC area (getting married in Baltimore) and we rented lucite presidentials (that’s what my planner calls them) and they were $9/ea

If you can afford to rent better chairs I would do it. Why not? We did lol…granted my parents are paying and that was their decision but still, if you can foot the bill, I think it’s worth it.

I’m going against the grain here lol. The chairs are just plain. They will blend, and wont be a focal point. Thats ok! Especially if its not in your budget. I probably wouldn’t spend the money to rent when you could just play up the center pieces/table decor. $10 a chair is outrageous IMO lol.

We paid $2K for chiavari chairs so yep…they were a big deal to me as well.

If you care about chairs, I would definitely rent.  smile

Omg your venue WOW.

Honestly… i say rent better chairs..especially for a venue like that I am really surprised the venue didnt upgrade it themselves.

I totally get it, we are paying 1700 cad to rent chiavari chairs. the ones venue came with are .. ok but our venue is just so stunning i really do not want to see 180 ugly banquet chairs so alas… another invoice lol whatever

tomkitty :  Not sure if this is what you are lookng for, but there is a place called Taylor’s in FW that has a ton of options. We used them for a charity event before for the tenting, and their showroom is massive, but I have no personal experience renting chairs there. Here is a sample I pulled from their website.

I would definitely DIY it to save $$ personally. For a little more time and effort, you could make those chairs look nice! I personally would not notice a plain rented chair, but I would notice an entire room filled with chairs draped or tied with a luxurious fabric and greenery/flowers. To me that would stand out (even though the chairs aren’t the best) and be a better use of my money vs a plain chair that no one is going to know you spent $10 a piece on

ETA: this is my post “why did I spend so much on small details” wedding brain speaking haha. If I were in your shoes I’d probably rent chairs, too. For my wedding, flowly fabric and florals went with the theme, but if it doesn’t for yours then rented chairs would be the way to go. We got lucky and had wooden cross back chairs that went perfectly with our venue so thank goodness for that haha

What about chair caps? They are pretty and cheap. It might be worth it to buy one to test out.  See link below – the rosette could work, or on page two they have floral organza that doesn’t look great on the chivaris shown, but could work on your solid white folding chairs.
