it’s super unhealthy to tell yourself if only I _____ then I’d be happy. Be that if only I got married; if only I had a kid; if only I lost weight; if only I had a cuter nose… achieving these goals or milestones certainly can bring you happiness, but it won’t fix your life. Thinking any one thing, especially any one person, will magically solve all your problems for you leads to a deeply unhealthy obsession with achieving that one goal. Seek therapy.
