I love marquises!!  all of them on here are beautiful!  Here is mine, size 6.5.  The centre stone is .70, D, SI. The two sides are .25 each, E, SI In a white gold setting.

Really? There’s an actual stigma? I didn’t know that. Nor did I know that marquise is a thing of the 80s. I’ve never really liked it but like I said, it’s not because of an assocation with the 80s. I just don’t like the pointed, narrow shape. I generally don’t like ‘points’ on diamonds so no marquise, no princess, no hearts and no baguettes.

I used to think I hated marquise and yellow gold, but after seeing so many rings on here, there’s no cut or metal that I hate. I’ve just only ever seen marquise in what I thought were ugly settings. Now that I’ve got my eye out, I see plenty of marquise and yellow gold that I love!

@LadySnow:  I think it’s a matter of personal taste. If you LOVE it, don’t mind anyone else. I had a supervisor before in which she had a marquise ring in yellow gold. She LOVES it! Since you’ll wear it forever and daily I might add, if you love it, go for it.

I love marquise and would have been very happy with a marquise ring.  Fiance doesn’t like them at all and even though he wanted me to have a ring that I liked, his dislike for them was so strong that I agreed with the round brilliant.

I have a family marquise that is very 70s. I thought about getting it re-set but the more I wore it the more I loved it. Plus, NO ONE has it. People don’t like Marquise becuase it’s different from the norm… but why would anyone want to be like everyone else?!

My mother had a marquis solitaire in yellow gold, so that’s what they will always remind me of. I wanted something different.

My boss has a marquise diamond, and it is the prettiest and sparkliest of anyone I know.

It’s definitely because of the trend of its era. My grandmother gave me her stone, and she got married to her late husband in 1977. It did used to be set in a nasty nasty gaudy yellow gold thing, that my Fiance had re-set with her into something dainty for me!

I love it because it feels large on my hand (4.25 fingers) but it’s not too overbearing looking. I think that round would have looked wide on my skinny fingers.

I’m not a big fan of the current halo trend, and someday your kids will feel the same way. Trends come and go!

Just like acid wash denim is coming back. Please make it stop.

I never liked them. I always thought they were kinda ugly, but then i saw this ring..  and i fell in love with it. Now i feel like i don’t hate any shape, it’s all about the setting sometimes.

Hmm, a marquise diamond isn’t any more ’80’s than a princess cut is ’90’s, to me.  IMO, the biggest thing to remember is that no one else will have to wear wear your ring for ever; only you will. My ring is yellow gold, and I wouldn’t change that for anything. IMO, gold IS yellow. If I’d wanted white metal, I’d have gone for platinum. Regardless, a marquise cut stone is just as beautiful as any other shape of diamond, and your shouldn’t let anyone else’s opinion sway you against it.

@Nether:  oh that’s pretty! I don’t think I’ve seen a 3 stone Marquis. Marquis fan here.
