I love my ring. My now husband and I were engaged originally in jan of 1993 and I had designed my ring back then. My mom had the same style but with diamond side stones. The rubies are my birthstones and my grabdma’s who passed a week before I was engaged in 1993. Life took a crazy turn when I decided that I needed to run off and save the world so broke off my engagement. Fast forward 17 years and we had reconnected. We got married. I added a same diamond band last year In the picture. I think the shape is stunning esp on people like me who have tiny fingers ( this is sized at a 3 3/4 even though I am 5’9). My ring is a .50 in 14 k white gold with ruby baguettes.

Well since you asked.. I don’t dislike marquise rings as they are seen as being old fashioned.. I don’t think that’s the case… diamonds never go out of fashion regardless of what cut it is. For me personally, I don’t like the sharp pointed cut of the marquise and would op for a ring with softer edges. But each to their own… I wouldn’t worry about the haters because there’s just as many people who love marquise!! Laughing

I LOVE marquise! Especially when they’re a dainty 1/4-1/3 carat. I think a smaller size really flatters the delicacy of the marquise cut. I actually went into ring shopping with the idea that I absolutely wanted a marquise (partly because it’s a beautiful shape, and partly because I hoped it would elongate my short fingers), so I was surprised when I decided that I prefer a round cut on my hand. But, I still sigh over the lovely marquise rings on the bee. So pretty!

I think marquises can be very beautiful. They are such a unique shaped stone that demands attention. I dont always like marquise rings with a lot of extra drama  on the settings, i think it takes away from the diamond. I also don’t see many thin banned marquise rings IRL, I only have one friend that has a marquise ER. All of this is based on personal preference though.

I don’t like them for the same reason I don’t like really pointy super spiky heels, they just look really severe to me. The shape reminds me of a knife blade or a spade/shovel.

I don’t hate marquise – I rather like it. I’m a sucker for a diamond shaped diamond ring. But I didn’t want a marquise myself, for me the shape is too elongated, I wanted more of a square shape but on its side. Which is what I have.

I don’t like them because they look like vaginas, like eyes or – marquises in prongs only – like insects with tiny legs …
