I don’t like marquise because a) they make me think of the 80s, and more importantly b) I hate the way the prongs look on them, both from the top and the side views.

I wanted a round center stone with a cushion halo. I am so in love with my marquise ring that I can’t even explain. I feel lucky to have ended up with something unexpected and unique. I didn’t realize I would love it so much.

I just don’t like it. I do think it’s very old fashioned, and I’m very much into modern.

There actually aren’t many shapes I DO like. Princess is my favorite.

I was 21 when my husband proposed with my marquise. I was so tickled he was proposing he could have had a cheerio; it was totally unexpected. Here’s my set, been happily married since ’04 😉

I LOVE my marquise! I chose it 🙂 And it looks beautiful with my soon to be sparkly wedding band.

I am getting a marquise too – I love it. It takes a second look to get used to but it certainly is pretty.

@vorpalette:  +1 this.

OP, I don’t like them because it’s just not my taste, but do what you like. My ring is very antique looking and in yellow gold and I love it! No matter what you choose, you will be wearing it your whole life – your friend is right about that. But what she seems to miss is that all of our rings are going to go in and out of fashion several times before we die.

@MissComicBook:  Your ring is by far my favorite marquise on the boards (I love marquises!), and your setting is gorgeous!

I love the marquise cut but I appreciate it’s not for everybody. The setting has to be right and not too busy.

WOW!!! When I thought of a marquise setting I pictured the typical eighties look with bulky yellow gold rings and some baguettes but these are soo cool!!!

@LadySnow:  Neither marquis diamonds or yellow gold are my personal favorites.  But so what?  If YOU are the one wearing the ring and YOU love them, who cares?

No ring is going to be on trend forever.  What’s considered “old fashioned” today might be the hot trent in twenty years.  Again, who cares?

I have a cushion cut halo that I adore.  Some people don’t like them, think they’re trendy, whatever.  I don’t give a damn.  I think my ring is absolutely gorgeous, classic and timeless and I will love it and wear it proudly forever.

You do the same girl!
