Ha! I am surprising Mr. D with something that will tie into our vintage theme but adds humor. Planning on an old vintage pickup truck; a step-side but having little bits of all of his favorites in the bed! There will be a drum kit; with KISS on the bass skin, a nod to the Oakland Raiders and LA Lakers, body building; maybe a dumb bell or something – just piling it all in the back; like when you move!!

I’m surprising my Fiance with a grooms cake because she really likes cheesecake, but notsomuch regular cake.  I asked and was told that having a layer of cheesecake on the wedding cake wasn’t an option, so we’re having a regular cake wedding cake and then my surprise grooms’ CHEESECAKE on the side, decorated with her favorite football team’s symbols.  It’s just a nice thing to do for my Fiance to show her that I love her and that I do care about her preferences.

@bells: I did one of Krispy Kreme donuts as a surprise to him. For me, it was a little surprise for him, not necessarily a tradition thing. It could also be looked as a Southern thing too since he’s from Alabama. I mainly did it as a nod to his love of Krispy Kremes.

I’m from the South.  He isn’t.  So while I wanted him to have one, he didn’t see the need.  In the end, we compromised with cupcakes, some of which are his flavor picks and some which are mine.  Sort of bride and groom cupcakes!

P.S.  It can’t be all a Southern tradition if Prince William had one 😉

I’m having a grooms cake for my Fiance. It will be served at the rehearsal dinner. We live in Rhode Island and neither of us are from the South! It will have Futurama on it and will be a Guinness cake with a peanut butter filling and frosting! I wanted to get it for him because he really is letting me decide on every single detail so he deserves his own special cake 🙂

We were going to have a groom’s cake, because we have friends who are allergic to various standard cake ingredients.  She couldn’t come, and neither could our vegan friends and relatives, so no groom’s cake.  The groom REALLY didn’t care – we don’t like cake.
