DaisyBlossom :  It was mentioned several times. Also, the dress code in this case was not on the invitations but on the website, where couples commonly include extra information e.g. their registry, not properly included on the invitation.

elderbee :  it was an out of town wedding, but luckily I didn’t pay for gas and didn’t pay for the wedding gift, which was on a honeymoon fund registry, but I did get some food and got drunk off blue moon😂 for free. Free for me lol take that 2nd tier wedding!

DaisyBlossom :  I think you’re out of touch in today’s society. If social media wasn’t self absorbed we wouldn’t call pics of ourselves “selfies”. Selfies are laughable.

I’d be peeved if someone wore denim to my wedding. I’m wearing a lace and tulle gown, match the damn occasion!

Ive put down lounge suit for my wedding. I can’t think of a single man we’ve invited that wouldn’t own a suit, nor a woman who wouldn’t own a nice dress. If I’m inviting you to celebrate with us, I’d appreciate that you wear something nicer than your gardening clothes!

DaisyBlossom :

You’re right. It’s never OK to dictate dress code at all. Technically even “Black tie” refers to the formality of the affair.

It’s guests who are supposed to know how to dress appropriate to an occasion and venue. It’s not up to hosts to police, lecture or bounce them. Not to beat a dead horse but that still doesn’t mean people are dressed appropriately for a semi-formal affair if they wear jeans. The reflection is on them.
