@MissBoPeep:  It annoys me too, Peep, unless I’m feeling exceptionally chipper haha

@MissBoPeep:  Haha the worst was back when I worked at PetSmart, we were REQUIRED to ask people about their purchases to ‘strike up a conversation.’ So not only did I not care, but in many cases, they probably didn’t want me asking. Just a bad situation all around.

@MissBoPeep:  This happened to me the other day too.  I was buying Red Vines and energy drinks.  The cashier said, “Looks like someone is getting ready to sneak snacks into the movies with friends?”  No.  I was just a hormonal mess of “I need sugar.”  It is all for me.  But now I feel like a Fatty Magoo.

I don’t mind if the cashier asks me if I like a certain product or something like that.

I’m generally chatty though so I’ll talk about anything with anyone.

I did have a weird episode once – a creepy guy came up and touched the undies in my cart!  I didn’t buy them.  And I alerted security.

@MissBoPeep:  It happens to me all the time! And usually on really awkward purchases by creepy people. Like the old crusty dude who commented on my pantyhose purchase (he was like, wow, I wish I were going where you’re going. Uhm, eiw?) or the woman who remarked on the enormous box of tampons I bought at Costco (she was like, how do you like them? Do they really work? What if you’re swimming? Uhm, well enough to buy the big box? Weird).

Well, I always feel a little bit snobbish when I check out with all vegetables and healthy things… I’m like “oh yeah… this is ALL I eat. Clearly, I am healthy. yes, yes, admire me… please, comment on my healthy foods.”

😛 but, really, I’m teasing lol

The same thing happened to me and my FI a couple of weeks ago.  We were checking out and the cashier made a comment that we must be getting ready for a party.  We said, “Uh, yeah, sure are.”  But what we were doing was stocking our wine rack, really.  Just for us.  Embarassed

@inky_1:  LOL one time I was buying a bunch of pudding and frozen french fries and stuff like that, and the cashier asked if I had kids at home. “Nope, just a husband.” Laughing

I would think they were just trying to be nice and make conversation. I actually feel better when people talk to me. Reminds me that we are both human beings, and not just transactions to one another.

But if it was condoms, roach spray or Preparation H, yeah…I’d be kind of pissed.

Yes, I hate this too. But to be fair, a lot of the time the store is making them do it to “strike up a conversation” and be friendly.
