@Irish-bride:  Why didn’t you just open a  thread titled ‘Abortion is bad and horrible. Please consider adoption in its place’ instead of this rigmarole you’ve been weaving about all over this thread? I’ve seen this horse beaten on this site way too much AND your tone is judgmental. I believe that sometimes, until you have found yourself poor, alone, without the guy who got your pregnant, scared, jobless and pregnant with few choices…. actually, you could be rich and pregnant and NOT want a baby…, until you are in someone else’s shoes in an intimate situation such as this, it’s hard to know why people make the choices they do. And most women who  terminate their pregnancies are mothers who have jobs.

I didn’t read all the posts, so maybe someone said something similar already (sorry).

If I were to get pregnant now, it wouldn’t just be a choice about having an abortion or carrying to term.

Do I stop taking medications that are important to my health or do I deliver a child with severe health problems?

Do I go through with diagnostic treatments to figure out some of my health issues that may possibly harm a child?

Then there is also the issue some PPs did mention – staying pregnant could greatly increase the health issues I’m already experiencing.

I think many people are hesitant to carry a baby to term and opt for adoption for many personal reasons… It may be too emotionaly difficult, there might be a lot of shame/judgement. People are also aware of how overwhelmed the adoption system is and how many kids end up going from one abusive foster home to another.

People do what works for them.

Don’t want to continue a pregnancy? Have an abortion. Don’t want to raise a child? Give it up for adoption. Want to have the child and raise it? Do so. Above all? Mind your business because it’s none of your concern unless someone asks you for money to fund their abortion, adopt their kid, or buy diapers.

My friend’s supervising attorney got pregnant.  Firm partner’s reaction when she told him:  “Interesting of you to decide to get pregant given your heavy caseload….”

For many women, it’s the actual 9 term pregnancy that’s the actual problem.  I’m sure if given a choice to have the baby extracted and grown in a test tube and given up for adoption later, many women would choose this.

Because for some pregnant women those are the only options they would consider?

@KatyElle:  +1.

That comment probably shouldn’t have been as funny as I interpreted it, but I just snorted. Sheesh.

@Irish-bride:  So, as a teenager, you used to rally against abortion outside government offices.

Now, as an adult, you rally against abortion on Weddingbee.

@Irish-bride:  …ok seriously. You *just* found out you’re pregnant, and now you’re an expert?

This entire thread is so mean spirited. Just because you accidently got pregnant doesnt mean you now have the right to judge every other woman who has become pregnant.

What did you think you’d accomplish with this post?

@bRooklynRocks:  Agreed.

As some other bees have pointed out before me in this very thread, you don’t always know what’s going to happen when you give a child up for adoption. They might end up in foster care. They might end up with people who are physically or emotionally abusive. They might end up with people who are living saints, but YOU NEVER KNOW.

@UpstateCait:  Not the ones who stand outside of goverment offices, but definitely the ones who stand outside of the doctor’s offices. Like making the decision isn’t hard enough already.
