So I’ve been having a difficult time trying to find THE shoes.
My attitude towards it began as “Nobody is going to see my shoes so it doesn’t really matter what shoes I wear”. My mom convinced me otherwise so I started to care more about it. I should also mention that I am obsessed with shoes and had over 70 pairs before I had to sell a majority before moving to England –and I still managed to shove 20 pairs in my suitcase(s) ! So it was weird that I wasn’t that concerned with my wedding shoes. Even my fiance, who cares nothing about fashion or whats in style or what clothes he wears, forked out over $300 for his shoes (although I was partly responsible for his decision)! I also need to mention that my last name means “shoemaker” which is why I think my obsession with shoes is in my blood–and why there is no way I can fully get rid of my last name once I wed!
I think the reason why I was not that bothered about shoes is that I am almost the same height as my fiance and everytime I looked at shoes they were really really high. And even some wedding shops had some ridiculously high heels, more high than low even! You’d think most brides would want some sort comfort!
I have also been looking for something a bit specific, which doesn’t help. Our colors are pink and green and I am going for the pink/fuschia shoe with pink crinolin look. I ended up finding some shoes at the UK chain Phase Eight but I realized they didn’t “wow” me and I went for them purely because they were pink and they had a mid-high heel which didn’t make me taller than the fiance. I am quite crazy/energetic so I (as well as my mom and bridesmaids) realized I need something more “me”. Something with large bows, flowers, rhinestones, BLING!
The day I returned the shoes to Phase Eight, we went to this outlet village with some LOVELY shops of big names. I found an amazing pair of Jimmy Choos that had TONS of bling. They were absolutely beautiful – and 218 Pounds (About $350). A bit over what I wanted to spend. Although, that is cheap for Jimmy Choos (relatively speaking). It didn’t help that when I googled them, all the comments said “BEST BRIDAL SHOE EVER” or “BEST WEDDING SHOES!”. Great! That didn’t help in me trying to forget about them. They were also a bit too high but fiancee knew how much I loved them and reassured me that it doesn’t matter if I’m a bit taller than him but noooo I said. It also didn’t help that my mom and friends were saying “you only get one time in your life to justify buying Jimmy Choos or any other expensive shoes for that matter”. I didn’t want to hear that either!!
I have started looking online for something I like..but have still not found THE ONES as they are either too tacky looking, or too high, or not available or not the right color or too pricey. Like I said, I am looking for pink ones but would settle for the “blingy” sparkly ones that are really popular nowadays (like the Jimmy Choos!). These are ones that I have seen and liked in my vast VAST search. It is hard to decide as I need to see them on my feet but everything I am seeing is online. If anyone has any suggestions for shoes that would suit, please do share.
These are the ones I got from Phase Eight. As mentioned, they were the right height and color, but they didn’t have that “wow” factor…They are next to my fiancee’s awesoeme shoes (John Fluevog Opus Porters):
These are the Jimmy Choos I fell in love with, and in the store they even seemed like they had a hint of pink in them:
And these are just ones I’ve seen online that have caught my eye. I would like a peep toe type sandal or pump…but preferably peep toe!
Is anyone having similar issues with shoes?
Can anyone suggest some pink/blingy shoes that are:
A) Not too high (prob 3-3.5 inch heels max)
B) Pink or Blingy
C) Not going to cost a fortune (this can be an exception…)
D) Not too tacky/cheap looking (What am I talking about, I think most of the ones I posted are “tacky” but I love them)
E) Peep-toe
Jeez…I don’t ask for much do I???
This is my dress if it makes any difference:
I need to mention that this post may seem like I vent…well, I had typed pretty much a whole post, and then the POWER WENT OUT!! And this is a pretty long post! I was very annoyed! But I told myself to stay calm and I retyped it all!
