My cousin asked me if she could be a bridesmaid 4 months before the wedding.  I told her no, that I had already chosen my BMs.  She stopped talking to me, failed to RSVP, then come wedding time, she missed the ceremony showed up to the reception in jeans!

My mother got mad at my husband during the planning time because he didn’t talk to her enough while she was staying at my MIL’s house.  He doesn’t say much ever, he’s a quiet guy!

My SIL agreed to be a bridesmaid, but then got annoyed every time I brought up the wedding. It got so bad, that I eventually took her out of my wedding party.

I made my sister my Maid/Matron of Honor, and she was excited and said yes, but said she wasn’t sure if she could make the wedding because she was planning on going to Greece sometime during the summer.

Yea, weddings make people crazy and rude.

@iheartyou132: That story about your friend is pretty nuts. I don’t think I would be friends with someone anymore who behaved like that when I told them I was engaged.

But, weddings are emotionally charged situations, so people do go a bit bonkers.

I had a friend ask me if I really wanted to marry FH, about 2 days after he proposed.

EDIT: oh yes, and my sister (MOH) told me that I wasn’t taking marriage seriously becuase I was getting married outside. I near ousted her on the spot!

Oooo these are bad things. It’s true, though; I don’t understand why something that should be a pretty easy-going good time gets so many people upset. And it’s usually things that they should be minding their own business about anyway!

@iheartyou132: Oops, sorry. I didn’t realize you never used the word friend about the mirror-slammer. But, yes, that’s the one that’s nutso.

@iheartyou132: you would think! Her reasoning is that it’s not in a church. I’m not religious, but I’m pretty sure god can see outside a building…

I would argue that weddings don’t MAKE people rude, they just bring out the true colors that people have hidden so well in the past! Now I know who these people REALLY are!
