So I’ve been dealing with this for years..like since I was 15. I have no idea why, but I guess when I just have a blank look on my face, as in not smiling or anything…I look like a total bitch. How do I know this?? Well people have took the time to tell me. I used to work in customer service, up until 2 years ago. And every so often, someone would say things like “Why do you look mad? Whats wrong? Are you happy? Do you like your job? Whats your problem?” and well the list goes on and I’ve heard them all. Sometimes people could be pretty rude.
Well I work in a place now that people dont really care what I look like, nor do they say anything. But sometimes friends, or even my Fiance will ask me why I look so miserable! And the thing is…I’m not!! Im a pretty happy person, I have a great life! Its really starting to get to me. I cant help the way my face looks, and walking around with a big smile on my face all the time might get tiring after a while. Im at the point where I either want to snap on the next person who askes me that, or bust into tears. I know this might sound silly, but things can get to you after a while….
Anyone have any good comebacks….or advice?

I’m sorry but your post made me think of Sheldon on Big Bang Theory – he was trying to look friendlier so he was practicing smiling.

Ahhh, you have a case of Bitch Face. My good friend has this and gets many talks of “whats wrong? are you mad at me? etc…”
My suggestion for a comeback? “THIS IS MY NEUTRAL FACE!”

My mom gets this all the time.
” this is the olny look I have, sorry!”

@Ashley_B: I can completely empathize. I also tend to be pretty introverted. Not that Im shy, but I prefer to people-watch and analyze. Im almost always in a good mood but unless Im cheesin’, people think Im pissed off. I normally reply with “No Im feeling great. Believe me, youll know when Im pissed”

I always get smile you look so much prettier. Who walks around constantly smiling?

Introvert here with the SAME problem. When I was younger, I used to smile all the time. But it seems to have died down. Now I try to force myself to smile when I’m walking or sitting on the train to work. But I still slip in to neutral face allllll the time.

I have the same issue. I wish I had some great advice!

my sister deals with this and III get annoyed if anyone says anything. That’s her face…she is the nicest person alive. I just say don’t look then

@Ashley_B: I get the same thing! I hate it, I don’t have to freaking smile all the time! Someone is always telling to “smile” I am so close to tell them where they can shove that “smile”

I have this problem too. Apparently my “normal” face looks like I’m scowling. When I worked as a server I had to learn to smile all the time. It’s kind of annoying, but I had to really work at it to get the tips! Now it kind of comes as second nature so I think it’s gotten a lot better.

Thank god im not the only one!! It can get really frusterating!! I’ve come close to snapping on random people because of it

i have the SAME problem…. people at work all the time. I have been replying with “if you want me to smile say something funny” I never understood who the heck goes around noticing these things anyway… gah… lol

I have the same problem. I have one co-worker who constantly asks why I look like I have an attitude. I usually just laugh it off or say I’m tired. I wouldn’t worry about it. Just shrug off the comments.

Ya, I have permanent bitch face also. I actually got many more comments when I was skinnier. So I guess having a kid and gaining weight is the solution? hahahaha Sorry I have no real advice. I’ll put a smiley here so you can tell I’m happy ->
