@waffles: lol before my Fiance proposed (August 2010), he accidentally slipped up and called me his wife. We were driving one day this passed summer and decided to stop at Wendy’s to grab some fries and chicken sandwiches. I have this terrible habit of nibbling on my food before we get back to his apt. I said why does it matter if I eat some fries? His response was can’t I just enjoy a meal at home with my wife? After it came out of his mouth he was like oh sh*t lol. I kept teasing him about it, but it made me feel good to know that this was where his mind was (heading towards marriage). By the end of the summer he proposed.

Also, his mother slipped up when we had barely dated a year and she called me her daughter in law. I laughed and I said “hopefully I’ll get there.” After six years of dating, we became engaged. She and I have an amazing relationship….I already call her my mother in law. She has always loved me and I love her. Both of my FMILs (FI’s parents are divorced) are on my facebook. We talk and joke constantly on there.

My sissy put this together for my FMIL’s facebook…..thought I would share it lol.

Future Mother-In-Law is the lead singer

I am the one in the red  hat

Fiance has the red headband with black hair

My little sister has the striped headband

and my lil bro has the goofy facial expression and the dark brown hair.

Oddly, the sister who put this together left herself out of the video ๐Ÿ˜› lol.

oh theres been a couple for me and we are no way close to the ring yet,

first was when him and i were bored at the mall one day and so we decided that we would kill time by looking through birthday and occasion cards. we were at different sides of the aisle when he comes rushing up to me and shows me this card that mentions something about having a hot wife (i can’t remember if it was supposed to be to me or for him) and hes like its “omgg that so you!” and i was just like “except for that….(points finger at the wife comment)” and he goes “well you will be my wifey one day”. lol that comment must have made me blush for days. and now its kinda a little pet name for me.

and then the second was when i was telling him about a conversation i had with one of my friends about kids. it was about how I really wanted girls and how she wanted boys. and i jokingly said that we would switch and he nearly shouts “no don’t give away our boys!!!” and i just couldn’t help but stare and him and go “our????” lol it was so funny and unexpected cause  throughout the whole conversation i was so careful to say ‘mine’ and ‘i’ just cause i didn’t think that he would have even thought of us having kids in the far future yet. and of course i teased him a lot afterward too

My Fiance let things slip like that for a little while before we got engaged.  I think it was just his ideas of testing out the idea of long term.  Usually in reference to the foreign child he wants to adopt with me.  We probably got engaged six months after that started.

Actually, the night before the proposal, he introduced me to someone and said “this is my fian…girlfriend”. I looked at him like “whaaaaat?!” and he got really flushed and awkward. That still didnt clue me in that he would be proposing the next morning ๐Ÿ™‚

I tend to call him “my boyfriend, uh, I mean fiance” ๐Ÿ™‚

He’s talking long term to you, he’s serious.  He wants to live near your family! I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.

Haha! This is a great thread!

My Fiance had a couple of “slips” before we got engaged even!

About a month before we got engaged, he called me “his betrothed” and I was a little thrown off but I thought it was adorable!

Then the big one: One night we were watching a movie where someone was proposing to his girlfriend, they showed a close up of the ring and Fiance said, “Oh, that’s a princess-cut…” and then he AWKWARDLY left the room. (This was before we were engaged) Me, being oblivious, didn’t really take note. ๐Ÿ™‚

We were engaged two weeks after that!!!!

Mine never had any slip ups- he just referred to me as his future wife on multiple occassions. The proposal came a couple of months later.

Yes, when he says what kind of cookware do you like- so when I get some we will both agree on it. LOL He didn’t know what he’d said…. I don’t think.

Oh, and when he always refers to our wedding being in my hometown and not his hometown… and the travel time. Hahaha hiliarious… um, engagement son anyone???

This thread is so adorable!! Loved all the stories.

Usually when we’re on vacation other couples refer to him as “your husband”   it always makes me laugh.   (neither of us wore rings) and we look pretty young so it just shocks me sometimes.

My Fiance never slipped up but he did mention it five times or so during our 4 year relationship.  Come to think of it early on when we dated, at the very very beginning he said something about seeing us as an old couple with many many children/grandchildren, it was adorable!

This is such a cute thread :]

My fiance and I were hanging out at my mom’s house and he was talking to my dad, and said something like, ‘Yeah, the wife keeps getting on me about that.’ My mom and I both just looked at him haha. And then when we left to go home, he turned to me and said, ‘So I guess we’re getting married now.’ I just laughed, but thereafter he referred to me as his fiance. I still flip him crap about the fact that he got a fiance without actually proposing ๐Ÿ˜€
