    Sorry, you probably didn’t need a zillion people telling you not to buy a bedding set ๐Ÿ™‚

    I found this website http://www.newarrivalsinc.com/childrens-bedding.html where you can buy separate items in a set. It’s still a little expensive, but seems high-quality, and you can just get the parts you want.

    @Nona99:  Ditto. I’m making mine for less than $30.

    The little quilts that come with the bedding are useless. They’re too tiny and stiff to wrap the baby up in, or cover up with yourself. My cousin’s basically just sat over the back of her rocking chair for 2 years and is now in storage.

    But I totally get the thrill of matchy! ๐Ÿ™‚

    @Mrs.D:  Check out BabySuperMall.com

    A couple years ago, with my first baby, I ordered a mobile, a fitted sheet, a cozy blanket, and wall stickers from there (all for about $90-100 at the time).  They have tons of sets (which vary in price), and they also sell many accessories for each set (if you scroll down to the bottom of the page of whatever set you like).  I didn’t want a bumper, so I ended up just buying the pieces I wanted separately.  The shipping was reasonable (I’m in Canada) and it arrived pretty quickly, I’d definitely order from them again!  I checked out the reviews online for the site ahead of time, and they seemed great.

    I bought a crib skirt and three fitted sheets from Pottery Barn Kids for about $150.

    I bought 2 fitted sheets for his cradle at $7.99 a piece and then I have 4 fitted sheets for his crib which in total cost me probably $40.00. 3 out of the 4 were used ones I got at thrift store/craigslist. The other one was brand new.

    As other PP stated all that other stuff for babies cribs ie the bumpers should not be used anymore. Almost all the baby blankets we have were given to us.

    I did purchase a expansive blanket for him as a toddler that is part minky/part silky and he loves that.

    Go check out Pottery Barn Kids.  I just happened to look at the catalog and I am definitely going to register there.  Our wedding was grey(my favorite color) and pink and this catalog is chocked full of super cute grey bedding.  Their crib sheets run for $19 and are organic cotton.  You can get all sorts of goodies to match if you are so inclined.

    I don’t even want to think about how much I spent on our little one’s crib bedding…I could have spent a lot less, like other bees said, you really don’t need a whole set. But of course I needed it to match our super-specific theme, so I ended up buying fabric off ebay and someone on etsy is custom making it for me. Even that would’ve just been like $60 for a sheet, but of course I had to fall in love with the look of the bumperless sheet sets (they have one pattern on the top and another on the side, so you get the style of bumpers without actually having any, since obviously they’re super unsafe), and the matching crib skirt, and I wanted a matching quilt made that is large enough we can use it when he is a bit older and we convert the crib to a toddler bed. I obsessed forever over choosing the colors and patterns for it, but I’m so excited about it!
