@MrsKady:  I think it’s an old school thing. If you think about it, many ppl in my parents, grandparents, etc. generation never heard of anything other than a diamond engagement ring. I’ve even seen antique rings from the 1800s that featured small 0.05ct center stones and below. I think the motto was, no matter if it has to be teeny tiny, it has to be a diamond! LOL! I don’t think back then anyone ever thought to put anything other than a diamond in an engagement ring. Large sapphires and rubies were reserved for royalty and other wealthy families (Think Princess Diana’s ring). So, ppl just stayed within tradition.

So, I actually think she was probably confused and wondered why on earth would someone not want a diamond for their engagement ring? LOL. If she saw the WB, she’d be floored. πŸ™‚ I wouldn’t take it personal, I think it’s probably just her age and not knowing that things have definitely changed! πŸ™‚
