I prefer pave. I don’t know, just a preference.

My wedding band is channel set, I love it! It’s classic and timeless, and it’s the most secure setting for stones in the band. This was super important to me because I wear gloves in my profession all the time, and need something that won’t rip them and wouldn’t fall out easily since I also do some moderate lifting.

something about the stones being inside the band just bothers me.  But I am one of those weirdos that hates holes… so I think that has to do with it.  Plus I think prong set really allows the diamonds/stones to be seen more, instead of hiding them inside metal.

@alreadyawife:  If you like it who cares if others don’t.  I have a halo with a thin band of 1.8mm which a lot of people in that same thread dislike.  It is what I love so that is all that matters.

@NovaRising:  I don’t like thin bands with big gems on them but I still say they’re beautiful because all rings are gorgeous. I dislike them because in my profession, as a cleaner, I will break it very easily. And I wanted a ring that I could wear all the time, not to forget to take it off and have to put it in my pocket at work!

I LOVE channel set and princess cut! My engagement ring is a 1.1 princess cut solitaire and my wedding band will be a 1.4 channel set with princess solitaires.

I love the princess in the channel because they are right up against each other, no spaces. It looks sort of modern to me. That may be why some people don’t like it? I’m not a big fan of pave because I think it looks more antique (for lack of a better word).

It’s really just personal preference – if you love it, get it! Who cares what others think?

@MrsNerdy:  I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME. I meet so few people who understand!

I like channel set bands, but I chose micro pave bands instead, because I didn’t want much visible gold in the bands. I think micro pave/prong set show off the stones better.

I think princess cut diamonds look amazing in a channel set (as do baguette cut), but I’m not really a fan of round diamonds for some reason.

i dont like pri cess beause rings dont sit straight on my finger and it would also look crooked to me, and i just prefer round over the sharp lines and angle of princess.  and i prefer prong set or pave cuase it shows less metal and look more delicate.

@Anardana:  count me in too. I really think that some channel settings can cut down on the sparkle factor (although yours looks amazing), as well as I like the more delicate look of pave.

My set is a 5/8 center cut princess cut with channel set smaller on each side to make half eternity. Wedding band is channel set half eternity all princess cut. TCW 2 carats. I love it.
