Ive been taking BC for 10 years now and continue to take it. I’ll admit that I’m not great at remembering to take it and definitely skip a couple pills each month. Darling Husband and I have never conceived in the 7 years weve been together, using nothing more than my pills as birth control. Were not TTC but this is the only board this seemed to fit best in.
I usually get slight cramping a day or so before I start and then full blown period cramps once I do. Three weeks ago, I started getting the slight cramping so I stopped my BC pack and waiting for the period to come. This was about 4 days sooner than normal. No period came but the slight cramping persisted.
Last week, I continued to get slight cramps and sore boobs. I’ve been moody and fetl like I was PMSing all week. I tested and nothing.
This week, I still continued to get slight cramps and sore boobs. Like last night, my boobs were so sore my pajamas shirt hurt them. I feel like I’m PMSing still. Tested on Tuesday, nothing.
So, in summary, I’ve been off my BC for three weeks waiting for my period to start now…and nothing. Ive tested and nothing. Is this just a weird occurance from the BC? Do you think I could be pregnant but its just not registering on a test? I ask because now Darling Husband is getting worried and my gyno is not easy to get appointments with.

Is there a chance that you’re pregnant? Yes. You’ve skipped/missed pills. However, it sounds to me like you stopped your BC mid-pack, which can totally throw off your cycle and be the reason why you’re period hasn’t come yet. It may take some time for your cycle to regulate, but in the mean time just to ease your mind, you should test every couple of days or so. Hope it all works out. 🙂

I’m confused as to why you’d stop your pack to wait for AF? There is a placebo week for AF. I wouldn’t stop taking them to wait for AF in the future.
This stop/starting can mess up your hormones and throw off AF. You could possibly be PG, or you’ve just thrown your hormones out of wack and it takes time to adjust.
You could just be too early to detect on a HPT.

@MissCountryGirl727: +1 everything she just said.

Stopping a pack unless you have missed three or more pills is not reccomended. Then it is recommended that you do not continue the pack and start a new one, not wait for your period. If this happens you will also need a backup method. Missing the first 1-2 pills or three in a row together will render you needing a backup method.
Edited, I forgot a word.

I would just like to add my story here. I was late one month while I was on the pill. I didn’t want to start my new pack when I still hadn’t gotten my period. My period finally came the following Thursday, so I decided to start a new pack that Sunday (which means that I went almost a full week without taking my pills) The next month, my period was late as well (accompanied with HORRIBLE cramps) and I figured I would probably just be about a week late like the previous month. Nope, I was pregnant. I now have a wonderful 4 year old boy. Moral of the story, NO MATTER if you start your period or not, DO NOT stop taking your pills. I learned my lesson. =)
