For myself, I don’t post a lot but I am always reading. It is easy for me to forget that weddingbee is owned by a corporation. Their bottom line is profit. I disagree with what they are doing and I am going to do the only thing in my power…. stop visiting the website.
For those of you that are upset about seeing people being blocked and threads being censored, why don’t you all exchange information and start your own forum? If you do…. please PM me and let me know. I would love to be a part of a grassroots online community and not one that is worried about not angering a super conservative minority.
For the rest of you… happy weddings.
Peace out!

I just think there needs to be waaaaaay better communication. It seems really counter productive to say to clearly upset members “This is not up for discussion” and delete/close threads, then tell people everyone is trying their best to be open and “transparent” about what’s happening.
This was just really poorly handled all around. MHO of course.

@poppyseeds: I think you might like http://www.indiebride.com/ I *think* no one makes a profit, but I could be wrong. Any site you see that has an ad or a sponsor-makes money. Running a large internet community takes a lot of resources.

Unless someone takes it upon themselves to start a board, pay the hosting fees, get enough people to join to make it interesting, and get a team together to moderate it, they will always be subject to someone else’s message board rules.

Conforums.com is, I believe, a free resource. I’m part of a group on that site that migrated from Weddingchannel after the merger, and I’m pretty sure the girl who runs the board doesn’t have to pay…I could be mistaken, though.

@Oneeleven: She probably just didn’t request to have her name disabled. Or still wants to lurk.
@KatyElle: totally understand this. I happened to miss everything, as I always seem to (I must live under several rocks).

@sorrycharlie:
Oh I completely understand but I just figure if you’re gonna make hoopla about yourself departing then put your money where your mouth is and do it. Otherwise its just more drama on the Bee.
